Or they could go with their own concept?!!Henk_v wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 15:43I just can't help but project Ferrari style sidepods on this car. It just would seem to be the only logical sidepod style. The merc and ferrari concept both rely on sucking in the diffuser air in from the side so that would be the fitting solution.
...and Toto would probably rather eat dogfood for the entire '23 season than to succumb to the RB philisophy
Fully agreed. That is what Mb Amg engineers always did and it worked apart last year!cplchanb wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 15:50Or they could go with their own concept?!!Henk_v wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 15:43I just can't help but project Ferrari style sidepods on this car. Merc has never copied the core aero designs from anyone. Just look at 2014 until 2021. In fact it's been the exact opposite. In 2021 almost all the cars were using the same narrow nose as they started with in 2015. Also zero rake still.
True.. plus understanding the concept is more importantcplchanb wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 15:50Or they could go with their own concept?!!Henk_v wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 15:43I just can't help but project Ferrari style sidepods on this car. If size is the same it does seem like they have a longer wheelbase.wogx wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 14:42Longer wheelbase?

I was thinking 640/641 era Ferrari. Definitely NOT 0-pods, far more volume available within. Blending of mid-wing into side-pod is interesting. Did the “non-continuous surface” rule stay in the regs for this year?PinkFloydPulse wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 13:06These intakes just keep reminding me of the 1990 Ferrari 641 all the time...
Do the pros on the forum think drag is not going to be an issue? I don't know so that's why I am asking...

I’m not sure how, they were supposed to be on the limit of the regs last year?F1Krof wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 16:20If size is the same it does seem like they have a longer wheelbase.wogx wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 14:42Longer wheelbase?

Not compared to the W13……the W13 really makes you go “where the hell did the sidepod go?”
Wheelbase is now governed by the technical regulations of 2022. Mercedes had to reduce wheelbase last year to meet the maximum wheelbase length allowed. I don't see a scope to grow back within the regulations.F1Krof wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 16:20If size is the same it does seem like they have a longer wheelbase.wogx wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 14:42Longer wheelbase?
