Ferrari SF23

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Would be interesting to see if it was shaking that much last week, prior to the upper flap breaking... unless it effectively broke straight away...

This single pylon wing is giving a lot of trouble.

it seems simpler than floor tested before
It was already in the tests but there should be another one with a more jagged edge for this race.
I think it's this:

New rear-wing is massively wobbly on Leclerc's car :?
This is the greatness of Ferrari.
Here in Italy we know it well.

Is that separation towards the bottom of the upper wing element?

Beam wing stifness is not aligned with single pylon vs double pylon design. They could maybe stiffen them in the garage if they have the tools, but it could be a not very reliable fix for the race. Flow vis is ok, the flap is too shallow to expect any separation.

Ferrari might've tipped their hand, everybody is gonna be looking extra careful at this wing to see if it flexes down with speed.

The exaggerated side movement is unintended, still this kind of fragility probably has a reason.

If it flexed too much it would be immediately noted and banned by the FIA.
This is the usual Ferrari that in some cases seems to be a "GP2 engine".

It's neither a gp2 engine or another problem. They are chasing every gram and it's clear. It's better to go over the limit and need to add some weight, than have a part that's too heavy but you have no idea where to lose some weight...

Ferrari won't use this rear wing at Bahrain because of problems.

This wing was already in testing and broke, now, after a week, you put it again on the car and it swings like a bell and you can't use it for the race.
That wing was very important because it gave a little more downforce and now you can't test with that setup.
A top team can't do that.
Worth noting that Ferrari is the only top team (really? :? ) to still have two pylons for the rear wing.
