It's going to be quite interesting to look at which teams improved the most over the previous year in quali.
Ferrari - 0.558
Red Bull - 0.973
Mercedes - 0.898
Aston Martin - 2.441
Haas - 0.999
McLaren - 0.627
Alpine - 1.211
AT - 0.938
Alfa Romeo - 0.117
Williams - 1,203

Did a quick math on lap times compared to last year. Picked the fastest driver with his best time during the session.

Well Coulthard said to Charles that he had a glint in his eye and Leclerc didn’t deny it. I think he still fancies it tomorrow.
Watched post race interview and both of them looked quite downbeat. Carlos said RB are 1 step ahead in qualy, and it's 1.5 in race pace. Charles is saying more or less the same things with different words.
The threat came from behind imo.
Well, Sainz is a non factor. Leclerc would be in fight for pole if not for cancelling of 2nd lap, whereas Sainz was almost 0.5s down after 2nd run. So, Carlos should be downbeat, but Leclerc didnt look like it tbh.

Think they have great car for Saudi Arabia and they probably have most room for improvement out of top 3 teams.

I mean, this is what I was expecting for this track and with the troubles Ferrari had with the RW; This season will be interesting, let's see how Ferrari manage this year.
Also is good to see that the team responded the RW problem with a tactical decision for the race!

If you consider that Leclerc did not do the second run, and that Ferrari said the car was 1 second faster, then it's roughly correct.

What's interesting is that Ferrari had a larger portion of this improvement coming from the windtunnel. RB and Mercedes have more coming from just getting to the weight limit. Ferrari did a good job over the winter.

According to F1 tempo he hit 326 in his best quali lap, Perez 325.

4 tenths for RB, 3 of which are feom getting the car lighter, it's said RB was about 10kg heavier than Ferrari. So just 1 tenth left and Leclerc likely had that much. With a changed car and even slightly compromised with df options, Ferrari did as good a job as RB. Good work from the team
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Isn't RB top speed scary considering they had a much more loaded rear /beam wing?

Prospects in Saudi Arabia looking much better than here, not a bad thing at all. Hopefully the pessimists here keep quiet a bit about where the car is, it's as good as it can be for a car that's 100% changed on setup directions and overall concept vs a car which is a 100% evolution in every aspect.
I’d say the next 5 tracks should be better for Ferrari than Bahrain. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, I don’t think we’ve fully seen this car’s strengths.

FP3 time:

DISASTER. O my God, o my dear Lord, clear behind RB, Aston Martin. Even Mercedes appears to be faster.

Lets hope qualifying is better. [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o<
Man, you get emotional too easily.
Next time try to understand better what the team is doing and why. Also, a lot of experienced user here gave a really detailed explanation of setups, downforce levels, etc... so it wasn't this difficult to understand that the team was hiding a lot of performance.

Its all about how DF/Drag. Seems that Ferrari makes a lot of DF with smaller wings, so it doesn't really matter.

I don’t think it’s just about top speed. Ferrari gets to plateau faster and stays there longer. LEC quali v VER 1st quali shows that Ferrari has a great engine and aero combo.

Mechanical grip and balance are the only areas that we don't have clear properly yet.
