Should Alonso have started to push sooner? That was close at the end. TV direction was poor.
I think Charles had him, some laps earlier Alonso brought the gap down to DRS range, Ferrari told Leclerc he was clear to push and the gap went to 3s plus, at the end Leclerc was probably cruising having the podium well on hand.

Not sure if Leclerc's tires really fell off or he just lifted on the last lap on purpose. Almost perfect execution by Fernando and great tyre deg that brings home a p4 on a weaker track.

What a difference from a teammate last year to one who doesn't wreck the races of both for his own benefit. Thank you to Lance. Either that, or egos are better managed by the team. Whichever way it is let's hope it stays that way and the team spirit between Stroll and Fernando is maintained. Last time the words team spirit were used, Fernando won two world championships...

Miami and Imola which should bring updates
Alonso trying to help Lance might've caused him problems, shortly after the tip about brake balance, Lance missed his braking and ended up overtaken by Hamilton.
Kinda cool but i don't know if it helped.
Is there a radio message confirming that Lance was even told anything?

It's a big leap to start blaming Alonso for a car he wasn't driving, and a driver who we don't even know was told anything
i dont think that anyone is blaming alonso. alonso may have just overestimated lances ability to adapt to whatever alonsos brake bias was haha. it may not have had anything to do with lance being passed, but just the fact that alo recomended it, seems to suggest that they may be working that way together in the team. im begining to think that one of the reasons that they wanted vettel and now alonso was for lance to learn off these guys. not "using" them, but maybe in a mentor kindof role. but who knows really

I think even Lance can't resist the feel-good story that is Alonso having such a competitive car again. He didn't want to disturb Alonso at all today. He's an Alonso fan

Just to clarify the "brake balance " suggestion situation.
I am just stating the sequence of events for you to have the complete picture of what happened and what was said exactly. As we all heard Alonso did suggest to pass his brake balance info to lance, thinking it will help him.
Lances engineer shorty afterwards did pass the Info to lance, saying exactly the words

"Plus 2, in brake balance,, suggestion"

after one and half lap, Lance had his moment on turn 16 and Lewis got him.
A few seconds after his engineer said to him

"Hey Lance a bit Tailwind in sixteen"

A few seconds l8r, his engineer repeats to him

"Just take it easy in turn sixteen"

But Lance reached turn 16 and again had a small moment there which needs to correct.
2 laps in a row turn 16 isn't smooth for lance.
in the next lap his engineer said to him

"So, minus 2 on brake balance, minus 2 on bake balance, too much front lock"

So lance reverts back to his previous settings.
That was all the communication transmitted regarding the brake balance and turn 16 situation at that point of the race.

It looks like Lance did indeed change the BB settings but due to different braking style input it didn't work at all for him, and without the time to look at his telemetry he couldn't change his style to resemble Fernando's.

Before anyone says "did Alonso set Lance with a banana peel?".
No, Fernando suggested what he was actually using, and both race engineers could see it.
He tried to help, seems like it backfired somewhat.

I am amazed at the amount of time Alonso has during the actual race to drive his car, his teammate's car,his opponent's car & then chat with the engineer for race strategies & life

Seriously, at F1 driver levels I would think blindly following advice like that is unlikely; each driver is in their car and understands what is happening and reacts to that. You have to have confidence you know what you're doing; look at Michael Andretti at McLaren - I've seen footage where his engineer is dismissively telling him what to do re braking..... Didn't work out so well.....
In todays Formula One the engineer is continuously telling the driver on what corners or part of the lap to improve, you just need to listen to radios.

One area where the team needs to improve is pitstops. Fernando's pitstop in the double stack during the SC was over 4 seconds, which also slowed down Stroll. And in general AM hasn't done the pitstops at the same level of the top teams.

Any substantial chatter yet on a possible Imola upgrade, and what that might entail?

Its not confirmed yet, just the german publications said it would happen. They also said a rear wing would come to Australia but it had to wait until Baku
(just so in case people are mad if nothing new arrives)

Upgrade was scheduled for Baku but due to the busy weekend, they pushed it to Miami. I have a high hope since team said it's not a big upgrade(like the one scheduled for Imola) but small tits-bits.
It's a normal F1 weekend with stable weather so team can test everything thoroughly.

Hmm interesting tid bits there. So Lance's left foot isn't as sensitive as Alonso's as expected. Starting to think Alonso did this to show Lance his level, almost to show off, and to test Lance's ability as well.
