To me, it smells like Rossi is a very demanding boss, without giving the people the necessary resources, be it Otmar or Budkowski.

That middle finger starts to get sense...

After Budkowski leaving, Renault / Alpine has only got worse, with a slight better 2022 because of the foundations laid by Budkowski in the technical side of things.
All the people being put into place going into 2022 was done by Rossi. The structure was unofficially being put into place in 2021. Budkowski was a lame duck in 2021 as he was being followed around by Rossi at most races.

So, do you think the good results in 2022 are from Rossi or from Budkowski? Always in F1 we talk about long leading times when reshufling teams...

I think they're cause of the people Rossi put into place, with the exception of Otmar. He didn't start till March 2022. Everyone else was there in place in 2021.

I remember in the Secret Santa that F1 did for the drivers at the end of 2022, Fernando gave Pierre a Monopoly UK edition. I think he was trying to warn him of what was awaiting him.

Pat Fry was hired there before Rossi. He was promoted to CTO under Rossi in Jan'22. Budkowski was there till Jan'22 as the executive technical director, so would have overseen most of the initial development of the '22 car.

(nit picking but) I thought the idea of secret santa was no one knows he gave to who?

The structure was all done by Rossi, showing Budkowski the door was part of the structure change. Remember those complaints from Prost, that Rossi was keeping everything to himself and going to most of the races. Budkowski couldn't do much in 2021, he was a lame duck.

I thought Budkowski did a good job. I don't understand why he was removed. Any reasons for it? :?:

While Fry is a happy-go-lucky fellow, he can't be best pleased that Budkowski is no longer there to handle the manufacturing and infrastructure side of things. Surely that leaves more workload for Fry and less time for Fry to work on performance matters? :!:

The Italian press suggest that Binotto is a candidate for Alpine F1 Team:
https://www.formu1a.uno/en/szafnauer-un ... a-binotto/

Although they also suggest:
Meanwhile, the hottest name to succeed Szafnauer is Eric Boullier – the 49-year-old Frenchman, who was previously the team principal of the French team.
Not sure if serious!

Wasn't it also mentioned that Binotto refused?

I just don't think there was enough lead time for any changes made by Rossi to have a major impact on '22 season.

I suspect the latest outburst is because he's getting heat from de Meo. Otherwise it makes little sense.

In Spanish there is a saying that says "the water that has already left does not move the mill" and I think the equivalent in English would be "it,s not good crying over split milk". This saying seems applicable to the current situation at Alpine: after so much disorganization and unforeseen misfortunes, now that the situation seems normalized or at least seems much more promising... I don't think it's the best time to unleash an almost bureaucratic war . I think it would be more positive to continue the way they have done in Miami.

Last year their engines broke too often. This current year it seems that they can withstand the effort better without apparently losing speed. They should concentrate on preserving this, try to improve aerodynamics as well as fuel consumption and find a solution to their tire problems which seem to be concentrated on the rear axle and on certain types of circuits.

Obviously if Ocón has also understood that his teammate is not his biggest enemy and that he should concentrate his efforts on the drivers of other teams instead of tormenting his teammate, things would improve a lot.

Now is not the time to get bogged down with internal changes and top-down bickering. It is time to go forward with what they have and if they manage to improve it, much better.

I think it would be the best.

I think this team will be "lots of trouble usually serious" soon
