did they bring the new floor this week or just the edge?
According to the technical list it’s only floor fence.
Seems less basic than the early W13 at least, it somewhat resembles the early-spec RB18 now in terms of preferring lateral expansions and contractions (with the various notches at the step) over vertical ones to reduce ride height sensitivity like Red Bull's 2022 launch spec?GrizzleBoy wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 14:37Still looks kind of basic to be honest especially in terms of the underfloor fences.
Excellent points!
Perfect underbody shot - probably the rarest angle to ever see one of these cars from. The most interesting part for me is probably seeing how sculpted the underside of the front nose is just ahead of the monocoque join - almost seems like it's similar in concept to the bulge/channel that the 2019-2021 mercedes had just ahead of the cape (except, without the cape?). Maybe some downwash or vorticity shedding to feed the floor with is the goal of such a shape?
good for them, imagine bringing a new floor and it gets revealed to everyone on day 1pursue_one's wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 15:03According to the technical list it’s only floor fence.
The Mercedes looks to have rounded sections as well to me, at least the area directly behind the vanes.BlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 14:52Red Bull still seems one of the only teams with a rounded floor tunnel though. The front portion of the floor is more reminiscent of the Ferrari with the strake layout, aside from the kick out of the lowest section.
Difficult to say, but looking at it more and more, its starting to look rounded. Probably need some unique lighting to be 100% sureOO7 wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 15:56The Mercedes looks to have rounded sections as well to me, at least the area directly behind the vanes.BlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 14:52Red Bull still seems one of the only teams with a rounded floor tunnel though. Yeah, but don’t mistake complicated ≠ better.
