Will Max servive the day

Post

With the FIA meeting happening today, will Max survive or will the FIA look after its own interest and force an election/stand down?

i think the split will happen - but i do think that if Max stays (and i think he will) that it wont only be FOTA that leave.... i think the AAA, and a few others will go (like the German groups, and the Italian ones...)

If the old pervert can survive a Nazi-themed S&M session with hookers, this is a piece of cake for him.
How does he hold on to power? Because the delegate system for FIA representatives is fundamentally flawed. It is definitely where the voices of the masses are not heard. Instead, pander to the delegate who 's vote carries as much weight as the entire AAA (but the delegate may represent less than a hundred individuals). Make sure that when this delegate comes to Paris to vote, he travels luxury all the way, basically enjoys a five star week in Paris with everything he can dream of. Hookers, booze, he wants it, Max will make him happy.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

Indeed.

I think the FIA should follow the model of the GAA here in Ireland.

Every year there is a congress (effectively WMSC) where the big decisions are made.

About 4-6 months prior to this, each county (which in the FIA's case would be each country's motorsports council) have their own AGM - which tables motions and elects delegates. One or two of which will be voted by the grassroots within each county as a motion to be put forward before congress by the county delegate.

The next stage is where the congress decide which motions should be put back to the grassroots of all the counties for a vote.

Following which is the vote by all members within the clubs in the country, the clubs then represent that decision at the county level, and the county delegate represents that view at congress.

The only possible corruption in this method is congress deciding not to put the motion before the people. In which case those delegates to congress are swiftly voted out next year. Hence it tends to be a self correcting mechanism.

Sounds about as democratic as the Zimbabwean Government.

Surprised Don Luca can't weild more influence. I can imagine his hushed conversation to one of the war veterans- "Keys to you car in the brown envelope. Yours is the one in red, next to Max's old F40"

Now Ferrari are on our side, I think we'll be alright.

I can't think of a better way of structuring a sporting organisation.

Name one that is less corrupt than the GAA.
