I don't know how you can say that.

BTW, I wasn't serious that Max was old, just trying to point out that it's easier to make a mistake when you have to go right to the edge to move improve.
You missing my point. Doing once a while is ok. If its happening frequently its pattern. I am very big Alo fan and want him to one more championship before he retires but this habit might come in winning way.
Max is 0 for 1, the one time he had to, he didn't....and again Alonso improved, just noting other in the last sector.
Monaco ?? Alonso had it till sector 2 before Max produced Mega S3.

How do you know if Alonso drove rhe same car as Max, that Max would have been .5 of sec faster? That Max's lap was a crapy lap just the car is so good?

Yes we get it. Max could only beat Latifi. Wait until RB puts a real driver in it. They'll have a 2 sec/lap margin on the field.

You should hope this is not the case. It will not bring Fernando any closer to a title...

Exactly. 5 consecutive poles for him where his teammate didn't even get to Q3. But sure it's just the car. :wtf:

Aston needs a better second driver than Stroll.

I wonder when an activist shareholder will sue Lawrence Stroll for breaching his fiduciary duties to shareholders by keeping Lance in the car

Meh. Better for Lance to tell his dad he's retiring at the end of 2023, and joining the F1TV team as a commentator...😊

That wasn't my point, it was just that he only did enough. I'm pretty sure he wasn't on the edge. He didn't need to be, so why should he?

Go back and watch qualifying sessions. The RB hasn't been that dominant in qualifying. This isn't 2014.

Right, they are on pole for all but 1 race and nobody here thinks he has more in hand?

Considering that the value of AMR has probably quadrupled since he took over and his goal is to approach the 35 billion valuation of Ferrari ...if he stays on that trajectory, nobody is gonna complain about anything.

Perez didn't even make Q3 five times in a row... Bagging all those poles doesn't mean he has more in hand. There's no direct correlation there. Just go back and watch the sessions. Doesn't look like he's taking it easy to me.

Nobody is saying he's taking it easy, but definitely not pushing like his life is hanging by a thin thread. Doing his job as an average F1 driver to me. And in such a sceanrio, any driver hardly makes any mistake.

In Monaco, he brushed the walls so many times, a little here and there, and he could have been in the wall. Was very lucky. On the other hand, I don't remember Alo brushing the walls even once in quali.

Does this not satisfy your criteria:

Would taking pole by using all of the track and skimming walls not qualify as "life is hanging by a thin thread"?
