When you have to go down on your knees and beg to get back in to F1, you don't have the pull to dictate who drives. After RBR chose to go it alone, the only team options left for Honda were AMR and Williams. They were rejected by McLaren. So despite being a really good PU Manufacturer, they weren't in a position to make demands of AMR.selvam_e2002 wrote: ↑17 Aug 2023, 12:10Alonso will not be in AM in 2026. he will be out. he won't drive honda again.
I think Honda and Alonso already said it's not a problem. Honda has learned a lot, Alonso will be stupid to say no to Honda in my opinion.selvam_e2002 wrote: ↑17 Aug 2023, 12:10Alonso will not be in AM in 2026. he will be out. he won't drive honda again.
It's a possibility, but what is your case behind that statement. If you're going down the "wounds are too big to be healed" path, it seems to be the same reasoning that was used back then that Alonso would never drive a Merc engine ever again after 2007, to which you could reply that the Japanese have a higher honour code or whatever but it's still business between mostly pragmatic people who have, true or not but at least have, stated that the past is behind them. Diffuser has also mentioned that they most likely lack the power to dictate who drives anyway. But I agree that not driving is a possibility however, so if you have another reason why that might be the case, then please explain.selvam_e2002 wrote: ↑17 Aug 2023, 12:10Alonso will not be in AM in 2026. he will be out. he won't drive honda again.
Considering Stroll's gap to Alonso, and the gap from perez (who himself beat stroll as teammates) to verstappen we can say that Stroll would probably struggle to win the championship in the rb19.. in the era of the cost cap/sliding development scale I find it just obscenely unlikely for him to be able to win one
I might agree that its an extremely unlikely prospect but Im sure theres at least 2 people who see it as a possibility. One of them is Lawrence Stroll. This is the main reason he owns a F1 team. This is why he bought into Prema when Lance was moving into F3. They already have the blue print which they believe can work. Its how Lance won the F3 title. Have a really dominant car and a teammate Lance can compete with, throw in some team orders and strategy calls favorable to Lance and voila. Do I think its likely to happen in F1? No. Simply because its much harder to get a dominant car in F1 than in junior series. But in the Stroll's minds, that would be the plan. Get Lance to improve as much as he can and if they ever get a dominant car, they can stack the deck in his favor and anything can happen.
