Hamilton admitted he wasn't fast enough, tried two quick laps and overcooked the inters. Not blaming others, not throwing tantrums, just honest reflection.
Drying track so its always about the final lap. In his final lap he was 0.22 faster then Perez after sector 2, then Yuki happened and he lost 0.5 s to Perez in sector 3. Should have made Q3 easily, but got unlucky.ambientnoiz wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 17:37Ham sucks at qualifying nowadays. Always just scraping by by the skin of his teeth. Always a "pleasant surprise" if by q3, he manages a decent position. No longer exceptional in the wet, and now beaten by Sar. Yeah... time to retire mboi
He literally cost Hamilton Q3 and 7-10 grid places, by driving like a moron, despite numerous messages that Ham was coming. Could have just accelerated out of 13 or get the F out the way off the line.
Good for him, he was making Q3, then Yuki happened. Pretty big to not blame anyone then.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 21:00Hamilton admitted he wasn't fast enough, tried two quick laps and overcooked the inters. Not blaming others, not throwing tantrums, just honest reflection.
He was fast enough for Q3 though. From onboard he spent most of Q2 being impeded to a greater or lesser degree. We don’t know what he could have done on a dry track in Q3.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 21:00Hamilton admitted he wasn't fast enough, tried two quick laps and overcooked the inters. The impeding on ham's best push lap didn't cost any time. No lift etcMogster wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 21:27He was fast enough for Q3 though. You have to have proper teammates for this to have any proper meaning really! Neither Perez nor Barrichello are proper teammates! Schumacher never even had a champion teammate (other than Rosberg at the end probably)…not to mention a whole team built around him!Chuckjr wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 22:44Max just giving everyone a beat down. I actually thought RB was making him look better than he is (like we’ve watched many times before), but clearly Max is a hell of a talent. 1.3 seconds over Checo? Dam. That’s Schumacheresque. Schumacher used to destroy his team mates no matter who they put against him at Benetton or Ferrari. We haven’t seen something like that since. I look forward to seeing the next driver RB hires.
Love to see Williams more competitive. F1 is a better series the better they do. Same with Macca. Great job from both teams. Merc team failed Lewis. Great job Russell. Ferrari is lost at sea. Sad. Shal will look back on his time at Ferrari and contemplate what might have been.
Wolff blames Tsunoda for the blocking.
Classic Mercedes strategy under changeable conditions!Mogster wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 21:27He was fast enough for Q3 though. From onboard he spent most of Q2 being impeded to a greater or lesser degree.
