Red Bull RB20

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I dont think its the real car at all tbh, look at how simple the floor looks, especially the floor edge

The floor edge is obviously fake, so therefore the vertical inlets or maybe even the entire sidepods may be too.

There they are... if the model is correct...
Actually you can modify the renderer.
1. visit the page: https://www.redbullracing.com/int-en/cars/rb20/
2. hit F12
3. find the <model-viewer html element (or search for min-camera-orbit=)
4. change its value to min-camera-orbit="auto 124deg 28deg"
5. you can now see under the car

Yeah quite clearly postbox style under the pod wing.

Obviously not a perfect representation in a 3D model, but they wouldn't have made them there if they weren't originally and just filled them in like the renders.

Nothing really revolutionary then. Just leveraging a bit more downwash over the top of the sidepods.

That's a very low profile inlet. That's even crazier than if it had been an actual vertical inlet.

There are elements of this car that look similar to the shakedown for what it's worth. Nothing is a "real car" when their are updates in the pipeline. I think the car represents a certain state which might be obselete already.

Looks like they have the edge physically covered.

From this image, the W14 and the RB20 really are nothing alike at all. The RB20 has a massive undercut. The W14 has zero undercut to speak of.

The inlet isn't visible from the side, only if you move closer to the front.

The intake size varies in the pictures... we won't see the true size until the tests, but I don't think it's as small as in some pictures... then all the other teams and engine manufacturers would be incompetent. I think Red Bulls inlet will be about the same size it was last year.

I know this image is blurry but does anyone else see inlets right to the left of the red highlight? matches with the 3d model posted above as well, seems like the vertical opening might be to help with additional cooling

Im going to wait until Bahrain but they certainly were not conservative, contrary to what Horner Adrian and Waché were saying..

Newey and Waché said they were evolving the car rather than choosing to pursue a new philosophy. They've done exactly that. This is the logical conclusion of the concept they've pursued since 2022. If they had been pushed harder in 2023 they'd probably have brought this forward during the season.

I don't think Redbull is so stupid to put on the 3D model some informations they want to hide

In the off chance they remove this from the site I've remixed a model-viewer demo on glitch with the RB20 files here: https://rb20-model-viewer.glitch.me

edit: I've also now boosted the exposure of the environment on this
