He doesn't care whether it’s raining, whether it’s dry, which circuit, which car... red, orange, green.. Alonso is extra

The car was definitely lacking some pace in the Sprint, but Alonso did a stellar job as per usual! Quali was also so close, I wonder how close it would of been without the small snap in the first sector - great last sector :D

Hopefully the small tweaks of the setup will foresee us a better result for tommorow, second row!
Unfortunately the tyre wear still there, but much less thanks for the new floor. The positive side of this year, that the upgrades seems to work as they want to but still they struggled to get the maximum from in it. Honestly the difference in 2024 between the front runners is not really the aero efficiency, but the tyre *efficiency*.
That is very true! The overall deg on all fuel levels has got much better with the latest Suzuka upgrade, for sure. Ferrari has an advantage and we have to work on that, let’s see how Miami works for the AMR24.

Do we have an idea how the car will perform in race pace?

Hopefully race pace is a little better than the sprint... very exhausting to qualify so high up and then having to see him lose positions without remedy.

Well looking at the sprint race, i’m assuming it’s gonna be tough to hold positions against the McLarens and the Ferraris. But don’t know yet if, and if so what they changed, setup wise, for tomorrow.

I think he was pushing way too hard in the first few laps. Plus he was on used tyres, right? Hopefully the pace is good enough to keep the McLarens and the Mercedes behind tomorrow.

Very happy with qualy.
And also with car upgrades

Let’s remember that season is very long, so I prefer starting like this and finishing the year with 8 podiums in a raw than last year :D

Keep pushing!

So Aston Martin built their own SF-23 but without the pace for Pole Positions.

Alonso was immense in the Sprint but watching him tumble backwards is very frustrating. Qualifying P3 last year would have meant a fight for P2.

Nearly all experts said (and also Stella - he only spoke for McLaren) that AMR and McLaren will be weak in S1 to due the long slow corners. In reality ALO was the fastest driver in S1 and also McLaren was right there. RBR advantage was mainly the last sector. You would think now that ALO will be a monster again in Monaco.

But it's also a tyre formula, Haas and Sauber were nowhere in Japan, now they are in Q3, only half a second behind P3. The new rubber can hide a lot of things I guess...

The bane of Alo's career has been that most of the time, he's always had a car 0.5s slower than the fastest car. :(
Im sure he would have had double digit world championships if he had received cars more according to his talent. That with 40+ years old he is still at this level is unprecedented and shows that the pool of talent at his peak was immense.
Sadly would've, should've, could've

Alonso only driver who qualified top 3 for both the sprint qualifying and qualifying in wildly different conditions :D
He himself has said it, I may not be the fastest or the most technical, but I'm very very consistent.

Absolutely amazing from Alonso. I don’t think F1 pundits quite realise what a truly special driver they are watching. What a shame we can’t see him fight Max etc.

I know it’s the same old story but come on- how is Lance Stroll in a drive? He is absolutely destroying the points return for this team.

Good, hope FIA can clarify what stopping means. Clarity will help Stroll as he is most likely to do this after Sargent

"In the first sector I had a difficult moment at turns 1 and 2 and almost lost the car. Then I said, 'Okay, do I continue or do I stop the ride?' Because I lost like two tenths in two corners. But I didn't give up, I kept pushing for the whole lap and I set a good time."
