Depressing that Verstappen can lap faster on 30 lap old hards than Alonso can on 9 lap old mediums... Nice to see Alonso actually getting racy though, although not optimal strategy, obviously.

Well to be fair Verstappen can save tires from lap 1, in a car that is so much faster. Alonso on the mediums was racing from lap 1.

Realistically probably only lost 1 point (plus Russell would have gotten 2 less). Or maybe he could have stayed in front of Sainz with hards.

Many teams are bringing an upgrade package to Imola, if this is to be a comeback season Aston has to bring something as well or not too long after

Curious strategy with the soft tyre option on Alonso, but the end result wasn't terrible.

What was terrible (yet again) was Lance Stroll. If the team have ambition, he has to go ASAP.

That save in the last corner... Insane
Not just the safe ,but immediately catch it and hit the drs button. Jus wooww!!!
Anyway that Redbull just use different tyres than others. I really start to be sceptic about how Redbull able to keep those tyres alive with so fast lap times.

Alonso was great. No comment on the other driver.

i still have faith in the team. but i can't see them fixing tyre deg until next season. similar to what happened with ferrari last year.
but the car has good pace over 1 lap. hopefully imola upgrades will help with race trim

They didn't have much choice really. Everyone around them would have saved time pitting under the safety car. Then they would just go backwards on older hard tyres too. They only had a set of soft and medium tyres left at that point (I think) and probably felt they could potentially get better track position on the restart with the soft and then use mediums on the last stint.

Pitting early onto the hard and then having two safety cars essential destroyed their original strategy (medium - hard - medium). So I think what they did had some logical to it.

What a dumb strategy...
Strategy was good, second safety car was painful and made it even harder for Alonso

Exactly this ☝️.
It was so annoying listening to Crofty and Rosberg be flabbergasted by it... just look at the tyres available guys.

Why the FIA is going mad with Aston... they penalized Alonso yesterday with 10 sec and -3 points ( a total of -6 after only 5 races) and today it was too much with Stroll 10 sec penalty and -2 penalty points......

Alonso had a bad deal yesterday with his penalty. Stroll deserved all of his, and arguably more.

AMR also apparently bringing parts to Imola to improve tyre management
