That's what comes from having a dominant car and a weak team mate. Except for Senna who had a dominant car and a world champion team mate. Senna's performance is one of the reasons he's still held in such high regard.
All his team mates have looked weak. That is much to the credit of Max. Perez falls in the Bottas category, and was given much less.
But none of them world champions or likely to be. Senna (and a few select others) raced world champions in the same car and succeeded.
None became world champion under his watch driving the same equipment, thats correct. Senna lost from Prost and Hamilton lost from Rosberg. Verstappen hasnt given his team mates an inch and destroyed their careers.

thinking what is possible to achieve starting from 6, Sainz will probably slow down the pack so that Leclerc (and Piastri) can run away into the distance, podium will be out of reach by half of race; maybe starting with hards he can extend the first stint and overcut one or two cars, a well timed SC would be gold but cannot rely on that

Tactical penalty overtaking into the chicane out the tunnel. Worth 10s now though isn’t it?

Not very much. At best maybe he gains a position on start and another one trough strategy, but even that would require serious amounts of luck.

Magnussen is a suicide b**ber on track. Nothing can justify letting that loose cannon on track.

Indeed. Nevertheless, in my opinion it was brainless on Magnussen's part and he shouldn't have been there at all. Where was he going? The guardrail in front goes to the inside and there is a left-hand bend - there would have been no room for him and even if there had been, he would have had to line up at the back. He should have taken his foot off the gas, because it simply made no sense whatsoever what he was trying to do and to take such a risk on the first lap. A rookie would get his head washed for such an action.

Fully agree it was not a smart choice to go there, but ultimately he didn't cause the accident, as we see and agee :) And neither did Perez turn on purpose, it was a lap 1 racing incident as stewards rightly ruled

Yeah I know how everyone wants to blame Magnussen but it wasn’t his fault here! This racing culture of “oh I was ahead I’m entitled to do whatever I want” must stop at some point…

This is classic Perez not giving an inch and never backing out even though someone is legitimately racing him! He knew Magnussen was there yet he didn’t mind closing the door! Got what he deserved in the end…

Any idea what's the extent of damage to Perez's car?

If it was really about winning , Sainz would already be signed. Perez should be replaced mid season
