That was not really the case. Carlos did not improve his time set on hards on the medium.

Charles looked faster in the long runs to Carlos too and was matching/slightly faster than Max (who was being provided as a reference to Charles).

So it is not all doom and gloom. I don’t know about the bouncing though, did not follow the onboard too much

Charles pace on the long run looked encouraging.

Charles long run pace looked super strong. When they get the right setup with the car it seems the race pace is strong but the qualy balance got even worse with the latest upgrade

Race pace being good is not enough, unfortunately. Starting behind in P5 and P6 you can't do much if you are a few tenths faster.

Ferrari compared the Imola package with the Spain one. The best SF-24 would be the fusion of the 2 packages: the FP1s have in fact confirmed that the Imola Spec is on average better at fast speeds while the Spain Spec is better at slow speeds.

My guess is that the Spain spec probably performed as good as the Imola floor in the high speed in the simulators, which explains the hurry in bringing the upgrade forward. Honestly if they figure it out, this bodes well.

On their fastest laps, Sainz was 10kph up through Chapel on minimum speed... the bouncing is a huge issue and embarrassing in 2024.

But wasn't Carlos on a more aggressive engine mode on his fastest lap ? I am not sure if those numbers are comparable

From the formula uno above:
Sainz, however, was unable to improve on his C2 result despite three fast laps, a sign that the lap in C1 a few minutes earlier was probably done with a more aggressive engine mode.

Agreed. It is an embarrassing fumble at this point of reg development. But one has to be hopeful, they've figured it out before, hopefully they can recover that characteristic again.

Even in FP2 they will run different spec cars...

So LEC couldn’t use 8th gear through copse? I think they are both reverting if that’s the case.

They didn't figure out how to run low tunnel roof and not porpoise, they simply raised the tunnels with the Barcelona 2023 upgrade and bouncing was gone (while also losing performance on paper).

Now that they lowered them again with the Barcelona upgrade, bouncing is also back.

I think Vanya will correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I gathered by reading his posts, lowering the tunnel roof is one of the easiest ways of gaining DF under this ruleset, while also being of the riskiest as you need to be very careful not to introduce porpoising.
