Isn't a simpler explanation that both Ferrari drivers and Ferrari as a team underestimated how much temperature they lost due to slow outlaps and cooling conditions rather than having two separate issues (Sainz being slow and cold and Leclerc having tyre blanket issue).

Tyre blanket issue seemed like an excuse. Sounds more like a team miscalculation that affected both cars.

Leclerc seemed to fully believe the tires were not the right temperature leaving the pits. At the very least there was some kind of miscommunication about what the tires should be like. Possibly not anybody's fault, but an overall misunderstanding of the tires. I just don't get why the rest of qualifying was fine until then, did the temperature drop at the end of Q3? Anyway, I doubt we'll be privy to what happened.

I wonder if Ferrari will split the strategy on the cars? They haven't really been doing so lately, but since they're starting so low, the gamble might be worth it.

No grid penalty for Sainz today, so still P9 and P10. Just avoid lap 1 friction, please, and I'll be optimistic for the race. =D>

eventually he blamed the traffic and lap preparation (which is on driver), blaming the equipment is blaming Ferrari as a team/brand, he doesn't want to do that.
traffic blame = blame race engineer.

But Ferrari doesn't make blanket , and it's normal for technique to breakdown, that's why it's technique. For me, it's more frustrating if the engineers and/or the pilots made a mistake, than if the warmers breakdown.

formula uno:
At the beginning of the lap the tires began to lack temperature, but the first sector passed very slowly, taking a significant space from the movement of Alonso : the tires abruptly collapsed and could not return to temperature in time without loading them. Leclerc missed by only 2/3 degrees at the start of the lap, but it was enough to cause understeer. Nevertheless, the tire temperature at the garage exit was 70 degrees and there were no technical problems. The timing of the exit forced Leclerc to manage traffic far from perfectly.

Sainz's accident is also explained by insufficient tire temperature: compared to the previous round the Spaniard came out of the corner at 10-15 km / h less, but found himself in the wall even before the beginning of the circle. Moreover, Carlos approached the corner on a more internal trajectory than on the previous laps, collecting dirt - the combination of all factors led to the accident.
damn the margin are so small, we should keep our expectation for Las Vegas really low then..
Based on what we’ve seen this season that might end up being the worst track for them since track temperatures can be in the low teens.

In Las Vegas Mercedes could be the fastest. I think.

Wow, these cars are incredibly tough. I don't remember the last time they had to change the gearbox due to a crash in quali since the new rules of 2022.

Charles just yanked the rear slightly at the swimming pool chicane back in 2021 and the gearbox was f*cked for the race.

The ambient temperature is almost 2c higher than Q3. I hope this means good things for Ferrari and not that they'll have unexpected behavior from the tires...

Both cars are on mediums, just like every other car in the top 10 except Hamilton. So no gamble on a SC.

Leclerc went wide behind Alonso and went off briefly. Sainz got squeezed. And now they're both stuck in DRS behind slower cars with no tire differences.

Sainz said he's having trouble with the front brake temperatures, it seems to be solved now but it was affecting him for a few laps. Leclerc's radio is off so we don't know what's happening with him.

It's going to be a long race.

Wish Charles would get a bit more aggressive at times. He won’t get passed Russel here

Leclerc didn't have the pace near the end, Russell wasn't a sitting duck and Leclerc had pushed hard to get there. But still, what a drive from both Leclerc and Sainz. 4 positions for Leclerc and 3 for Sainz. Even though Q3 was frustrating, we really need to commend both the team and the drivers for today.

I have a feeling Leclerc won't be happy, he really wanted to get past Russell, but this could've been much worse given where they started.
