What a lap from Sainz after Ferrari looked pretty rough in FP3, Q1 and Q2! It wasn't even close.

Leclerc in P4 as well should give him a good slipstream. Piastri out in Q1 is also amazing for the WCC. Ferrari should cut the gap a good deal tomorrow.

1-2 feels very likely when they crushed quali and looked good on race pace as well.

Isn't P3 historically better than P4 here? Such a shame because Leclerc is only 0.005 off Norris.

P4 is on the inside of T1, P3 is on the outside. Realistically P3 and P4 both have good chances into T1. Last year Perez (P5) decided to turn into Sainz and ruin 2 races. If they start well the inside is the better place to be.

Remember Verstappen will still probably be attempting to block Norris like in COTA, so Leclerc will have an easier time getting past them.

You know things!
Leclerc didn't send it though  he switched back to racing line before the apex after seeing Verstappen line up to get Norris on the inside. Sainz got stuck from P3, just like Leclerc did in Sprint.
Alright so how's that P4 starting position around here?

Great job from Sainz, hopefully he keeps it by T1 and we get another 1-2 snooze fest tomorrow. Leclerc pays the price of having so little time in the car yesterday, but points are awarded tomorrow and his race pace was as good as Sainz'

Could be a crazy race, could be a snooze fest, very hard to predict anything and I'm looking forward to it 8)
I think it could conceivably even be a very similar strategy as last week - hopefully Sainz can stay ahead and has the pace to pull a gap in the mediums so he can react, whereas Charles does an early undercut and his pace/tyre management is good enough that he can cope with a long second stint.

It feels like a very Australia-like situation between the two of them, with Sainz just more comfortable with the balance. Feels like the setup they’ve found is probably a bit more benign, which is probably more to his liking than a pointy car.

great lap from Sainz, a bit better from Charles would've been stellar but still a good opportunity to make ground in the WCC.

I honestly think we're gonna see an incident into T1 or T2. Drivers are fed up with the rules for overtaking and may take advantage of it the way Max does.

Excellent laps in Q3 from Sainz, pole lap was absolutely hooked and the car was amazing. Barcelona-spec struggles are a distant dream, the whole team did an amazing job turning things around and they need to wrap it up today

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I really feel bad for Sainz, this is so undeserved to be dropped like that by Ferrari. It would be kind of sick if Lewis would the win WDC next year on top of the work that Sainz amongst others have done. As Sainz himself mentioned during the post qualifying press conference.

Those Monza upgrades are almost on par with the McLaren Miami upgrades.

His past two seasons were underwhelming and filled with periods of ups and downs. He had well over 10 poor starts in 22, losing positions left and right. He made several big mistakes and lost something like 60-70 points in that season. Very similar story in 23, about 50 points dropped on his own and managed to lose to Leclerc in WDC even though he had less mechanical DNFs and the car was initially designed to favour him by Binotto.

His growth and improvement this year came as a need to prove himself to other top teams to hire him (which they didn't btw) and Vasseur working his rear off to get Sainz to focus on something else other than beating Leclerc. He can't be mad for losing his seat to a Hamilton, but being overlooked for a seat in Red Bull or Mercedes is telling
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

His contract simply ended and wasn't renewed, it's not like he was fired mid-contract for a shiny new thing.

It's an unfortunate situation but it's more unfortunate in the sense that Mercedes or Red Bull didn't give him a chance. This narrative that Ferrari unfairly let him go and all his current work is going to "waste" is ridiculous. It's his job as a competitive athlete to perform up until the day he leaves.

Anyway, feeling good about today and the chances for a 1-2. I saw the post on Twitter about how P4 is not a good starting position, but hopefully, even if Leclerc can't get ahead on lap one, he can undercut his way ahead. Both drivers had great pace in their long run simulations so I'm feeling positive.
