The fight for WCC will be held in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari vs McLaren for the first title in 16 years (Ferrari) or 26 years (McLaren). Like the old times.
Yeah, but it shouldn't be that way, I don't think. It's amazing for F1. I feel a little dispirited and in part because I'm not confident we can hold on to 1st in the constructors now. I will cheer the team on and pray we can get it over the line. Let's hope Charles and Max have a tangle to boost both fights in our favour.
Let's not let this one get our confidence down. Remember last year when Oscar fought back (twice) from P18 and despite a puncture and no luck with SC timing managed P10 and FL, at one stage tracking the leaders for laps only <2.0 behind. I think our race pace will be much better than qualifying showed and top speeds look good enough to think we should be able to make ground.

After FP1 & FP2 we look in decent shape for this weekend, I hope it stays that way all the way trough :)
decent ? Mclaren look in the best shape.. the drivers were not punishing the car like the Ferrari's and Mercs were. Redbull is not even in the picture, that frankenstein rear wing (instead of an actual lowDF wing) is their Achilles heel.
Well.......

This session didn't bother me to be fair.

I'll be disappointed if the team doesn't win WCC as this was a perfect opportunity but we have to be realistic as well. Before the season, no one expected the team to challenge for the title(s). Especially after first races it looked like another mediocre season so with that in mind, this is already an amazing season and a result (whatever it ends up being).

McLaren just didn't have luck that in the time when it has a fast car, many other teams are in the mix as well so they never got a big advantage.

According to Mclaren news on X, Mclaren changed their rear wing from Friday to Saturday. They went for a lower downforce wing.

Furthermore, Rosario Giuliana said:
"McLaren also changed the rear downforce between Friday and Saturday but, unlike Red Bull, it has a very flat rear wing that was tested at Monza."

Yes, that is the wing we wondered would ever run this year

I noticed the change of wing and Lando did say after quali that they are ‘quick on the straights’

The WCC fight is really heating up now with Ferrari qualifying 2-4 in what is probably the fastest car, while both McLarens underperformed. Ferrari could really eat into their advantage here. Realistically Norris/Piastri will probably end up between P4 and P6, while the Ferraris will probably finish 1-2 if FP race sims are to be believed.

Should McLaren finish 4-5 and Ferrari 1-2, we're looking at a 14 point gap in the WCC.

Personally I still believe McLaren is taking the WCC due to Qatar, but it's looking mighty close and I'm sure it will continue (at least mathematically) into Abu Dhabi.

Agreed.

Wish the media would give up with the Max vs Lando pipedream and hype up the real championship battle!!
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.

Not quite got the pace today for whatever reason. Thankfully Qatar is more our circuit but we may lose a few points to Ferrari here in Vegas- albeit Hamilton could take those two the way he is going.

Not quite the pace if flattering statement, they really screwed the tyre setup/management here, if they lose the Championship is because of screw ups like this.

well, Verstappen wasn't any quick, really. Problem is that McLaren was even worse today.
He wasn't slow and he was quicker than us

Anyway, point is, nonsense spouted after FP2 is exactly that. Nonsense
Take my word, both McLarens are going to easy DRS pass Verstappen tomorrow, the Redbull's real weakness isn't exposed in those Q runs. The RB20 is eating rear tyres, and McLaren have a huge tyre advantage and can maintain long run pace for really long.
Mclaren is worse on its tyres than the rest of the Top 4. Max is much faster.

The Red Bull not slow yesterday and the Mclaren clearly ate its tyres as much as anyone.
