Can't see what the fuss is. Thanks to Watergate, the media have worked a short and snappy way to explain a subject in 1 word. You read spygate or crashgate and you know instantly that it's going to be a scandal about IP theft or some accident. Yes it's basic and not actually proper English...(but then the bastardisation of our language is another story...aluminium anyone
) but what it is is easy and short, perfect for a headline.
