Low tire start pressure this weekend specifically favoured this aspect for them, i believe. That looks to be an ideal for Ferrari.SiLo wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 16:38I thought a bunch of cars ended up taking themselves out because of the Perez Bottas contact?Vanja #66 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 15:45I can't give a definitive verdict tbh, both drivers executed their strategies the best way possible and achieved maximum points with Verstappen and Piastri's incidents. Leclerc would have had much more trouble turning Hards on in heavy traffic and he definitely wouldn't have been able to pass 11 drivers to P8 in 1 lapr85 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 15:28I'd argue that the H-M was the fastest strategy actually. Charles did a stellar job at managing his race to finish P3, but if he and Hamilton are together after the opening lap then there's no chance he finishes on the podium. Wouldn't the strategy work better for Ferrari anyway? Carlos seemed pretty strong on the mediums but couldn't touch Norris on the hards.
There was no luck if you ask me, he took a lot of risk when he was on the inside of T1 and was able to outbreak the midfield when he took the outside of those corners. Taking such opportunities reminded me of Alonso
Finishing on podium by gaining 16 positions in a dry race without (multiple) SC and a red flag is the best race this season
It was raised after FP2. The real benefit was not losing any tyre heat waiting for the grid to formFarnborough wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 18:56Low tire start pressure this weekend specifically favoured this aspect for them, i believe. That looks to be an ideal for Ferrari.
The move at T6 was brilliant. It brought me back to 2019 when Leclerc's overtakes were the talk of the town. Last year and at the start of this year, he often drove lonely races where there were large gaps behind and in front of him - no overtaking opportunities. In the second half of this season we've been able to see him overtaking more often and it's been wonderful. Though I do hope next year, he'll be so far ahead in P1 that he won't need to do them
I haven't seen anyone other than LeClerc, Hamilton or Verstappen being absolute masters of overtakes (not the DRS passing in a long straight even before the braking zone, but via outbraking or via switchback or via sheer outmaneuver in a succession of back to back corners). That's one of the reasons why many (including myself) consider this trio to be the 'ultra gifted talent' on the current grid.
Good tie up. I'm sure Mr. Andretti was very influential in getting this across the line.ScuderiaLeo wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 16:32Wonderful news, finally official confirmation that Ferrari will be Cadillac's engine supplier for their first few years.

Maranello (Italy), December 10, 2024 – Ferrari N.V. (NYSE/EXM: RACE) (“Ferrari” or the “Company”) today announces a multi-year agreement starting from 2026 with Andretti Formula Racing LLC, regarding the supply of power unit and gearbox to the racing team led by TWG Global and General Motors, subject to Andretti Formula Racing LLC receiving written confirmation from the FIA – F1 that its entry to the 2026 FIA Formula One Championship has been accepted and approved.
Is there any obvious benefit to this? Cadillac is not constrained by any budget cap or testing regulations at the moment afaik. Does this mean they can test the new Ferrari engine and gearbox earlier than the competitors ?ScuderiaLeo wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 16:32Wonderful news, finally official confirmation that Ferrari will be Cadillac's engine supplier for their first few years.

This is an interesting take given Alonso's body of work, Lando's overtake on LEC at Monza way back in 2021, Oscar making multiple overtakes around the outside this year on like tires, not to mention his move on LEC at Baku etc etcvenkyhere wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 11:48

The next two guys I would put as great overtakers are Ocon and Russel.
It’s not like he said Leclerc has never been overtaken lol. Everyone will have good overtakes in their catalogue, it is just who is consistently better at them.Macklaren wrote: ↑11 Dec 2024, 16:45This is an interesting take given Alonso's body of work, Lando's overtake on LEC at Monza way back in 2021, Oscar making multiple overtakes around the outside this year on like tires, not to mention his move on LEC at Baku etc etcvenkyhere wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 11:48

I think the entire concept could be simplified into: Which drivers are the best / most comfortable during wheel-to-wheel racing? Leclerc and Verstappen are certainly atop my list; Hamilton is up there, too.Macklaren wrote: ↑11 Dec 2024, 16:45This is an interesting take given Alonso's body of work, Lando's overtake on LEC at Monza way back in 2021, Oscar making multiple overtakes around the outside this year on like tires, not to mention his move on LEC at Baku etc etcvenkyhere wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 11:48
