It’s all hard to judge. Can’t forget a few months ago we were the slowest in one of the closing races. I think it was brazil. Slower than Sauber and 2 seconds slower in race trim.

As long as the car does what alonso stroll wants it do consistently. It’s a good base to work from

Wind tunnel and star wars simulator, Mercedes engine and suspensions, technicians with an infinite curriculum from Blandin chief aerodynamicist Mercedes, Bell technical director of the winning Renaults, Cardile, Cowell, Newey etc. Can you be satisfied with being the fifth force? Absolutely not, also due to the fact that the opponents have abandoned this year's project.
And if we consider that in 2023 the second force, 2024 the fifth force, 2025 there is a risk of not even being the fifth force, it only means that things have gone from bad to worse.
I will be satisfied only if it is at least at the level of Mercedes, everything else is a huge disappointment

I agree, but, the key of all these things will how they improve this car, if they cant improve this year, even focused on 2026, its better close the doors and sell the team.

I don't think the team performance ranking matters that much for this first races. Aston will be happier if they deliver the 7th car, performing within a <0,5s gap to the top team than if they are the 5th team but very far way in pace from 4th.

This year we should expect better car progression and to slowly close the gap to contending teams. It looks like Aston is focusing on improving and checking data correlation instead of doing many laps. Building a good development environment is important for next year, and results should start to show this season.

If they fail to improve the car package and get lost again in the improvement research, 2026 will be another transition year far from winning races.

Sadly agree, similar to when he left Ferrari and they had a few realistic title shots a few years later, and McLaren the same after 2018. Probably will take AMR another 3-5 years to realistically win a title.

The same stuff I read in Alpine and look where they are. 5 years have passed since Aston entered, look at Redbull, Mercedes how long it took them to win and you will give yourself the answer

McLaren race pace sensational, all laps where they drop with the times and 0 degradation. Aston can't do three consecutive laps without rising with the times. Well guys get ready to cheer for the 9 and 10 place every race, sometimes more due to the demerit of others. Speechless
