At least it seems they've come back to life to improve a situation that was starting to feel extravagant.
thats not a car characteristic. thats alonsos driving style. but watching the onboard during the race, i still think the car is a bit stiff when riding curbsNikosar wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 10:16The data show that P5 in qualifying was the highest outcome indeed, as Aston Martin still has problems with low speed corners (-13Kh/h vs McL and -10Km/H vs Russel in P4):
Minimum corner speed ALO: 91Km/h vs PIA 104Km/h vs RUS 101Km/h
On a track with less slow corners they should be way more competitive.
Fingers crossed for Monaco, the king of slow corners....
Monaco won't need any set up for high speed corners so it's less of a compromise.Nikosar wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 10:16The data show that P5 in qualifying was the highest outcome indeed, as Aston Martin still has problems with low speed corners (-13Kh/h vs McL and -10Km/H vs Russel in P4):

It is an AMR25 and AMR24 characteristic. Alonso spoke about it multiple time in the past GP "“Yeah, I think low speed, low speed was our weakest sector in Australia, Japan and China, Bahrain is all about low speed has been our least competitive weekend,” he said.SSJ4 wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 12:11thats not a car characteristic. thats alonsos driving style. but watching the onboard during the race, i still think the car is a bit stiff when riding curbsNikosar wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 10:16The data show that P5 in qualifying was the highest outcome indeed, as Aston Martin still has problems with low speed corners (-13Kh/h vs McL and -10Km/H vs Russel in P4):

Some of that is the tyre choice. If you check Fernando's Q1 run on the softs his minimum speed is about 105.Nikosar wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 10:16The data show that P5 in qualifying was the highest outcome indeed, as Aston Martin still has problems with low speed corners (-13Kh/h vs McL and -10Km/H vs Russel in P4):

He just was fast at 1st stint, because the full drs assist by McLaren, once he did loose the drs then the Williams did catch up really fast at Alonso. He only luck was ,that Norris couldn't pass Russell so Alonso could go under 1 sec again.AR3-GP wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 14:571) Alonso was faster than Russell in the first stint. Interesting...
2) Was there any explanation for the front brake fire after the first pitstop? Did they change parts here with the upgrades? I wonder if that had impact on the rest of the race.
3) It's the first race with upgrades and they only had Lance's feedback on Friday. They will continue to optimize the setups around the new parts with Alonso .
I looked at telemetry from qualy lap. Alonsos minimum speed was 91km/h, stroll was 103km/h. Just his driving styleNikosar wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 13:54It is an AMR25 and AMR24 characteristic. Is not linked to driving style cause when he had a fast car on the slow-corner he was on podiums (AMR23)
You can double check also the full race telemetry on f1-tempo, Alonso Stroll vs the top teams you can clearly see very often a huge gap of +10Km/h at each slow corner even for Stroll. Especially in the first sector Stroll much slower then Alonso in the slow corners. It is truly a car negative characteristic.SSJ4 wrote: ↑19 May 2025, 15:55I looked at telemetry from qualy lap.
