LiCo from lap 1?venkyhere wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 17:50Honestly, anyone from the McLarens, the Ferraris and Max could have finished on pole. All except one in that list made mistakes in their laps.
However, what I didn't expect was Russel to emerge P4. That was spectacular. It should hurt the ego of both HAM and LEC, that they are starting behind RUS, purely from their own mistakes (they only managed to match their Q2 laptimes in Q3)
For the race, I think Ferrari will be in a conundrum at some point where they have to ask their drivers to ease off the kerbs in fear of plank wear. The SF25 running that low, without suspension updates, is a ticking time bomb, I feel.
The Italian press reports that LiCo is used more at the beginning of the race and this is because SF25 uses the hot air from the brakes (especially the front ones) in a more aggressive way than the other teams to warm up the rear tires faster, which is particularly important in qualifying to minimize the chronic understeer effect the car was born with. This could be done by undersizing the brake ducts' air intakes, which is also an advantage in the subsidiary, also in the race. The disadvantage is, however, if you are in dirty air, the brakes are overheating and that's why the LiCo has to be done, especially in the first stint when the car is heaviest and the brakes are the most stressed ...dialtone wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 15:18Plank wears during high load corners when the car rolls or as they attack kerbs coming out of corners. They do not wear because you go straight, LiCo is not about plank, it’s about tires, brakes, fuel savings.r85 wrote:LiCo would be used for plank wear issues in Silverstone, not brake cooling. But seeing that they're competitive today could mean that they didn't have to raise the car like they did in the past.
You're very much mistaken here. Verstappen was literally purple in S1 and S2, while being the last guy of the front runners out there, meaning it's genuinely impossible for Lewis to have been faster than him up til S3.Spacepace wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 17:36He would have been p1. He was ahead of Verstappen but went too wide into the chicane compromising him through the right handerLuscion wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 17:26dont see how this would have to do with Fred, it was driver error, both of them lost all their time in s3. Lewis was on course to get p2Fakepivot wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 17:18damn that was disapointing even tho it was quite close compared to other track, man that stupid vigna would be loving this, one stop closer to firing fred i guess.. < this worries me lot more over all the performance from the car has improved its good step forward.. i don't know if podium is possible but p4 and p5 will be good point haul ..
Ferrari have a new floor and silverstone is very smooth, I dont think Ferrari would run the car as low as they have if they suspected it would wear too much after learning from their mistakes is Australia, and i could be wrong but theyve been doing plank wear checks quite often.
It’s nonsense. It’s a rinse and repeat cycle at Ferrari. The team needs stability. The actual operations on race weekends have improved massively under Fred, I’m season updates too. Clearly a big mistake was made with the rear over the winter, but not justifiable to get rid of another TPFakepivot wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 17:45think about it they are looking to give themself excuse to fire him, according to original report that lunched the attack said Austria and Silverstone would be the evaluation, basically this them sending a message saying win or we fire, but usally from experience whenever managers make this kind of claim they have already made up their mind to let go so.. arghhh this is frustrating and sad.. other team don't have to worry about this kind of s**t...
He was ahead on the onboards in the middle of the chicane by the reference of a scuffed part of asphalt. If Hamilton hadn't ran onto the dirt he wouldn't have created such a late entry into the chicane compromising the right hander. It doesn't matter if Verstappen was purple if he was only up by a few hundredths because he has been losing to the Ferrari in the final sector all weekendSeanspeed wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 17:52You're very much mistaken here. P2 was the max possible for Lewis/Ferrari. Maybe P2+P3 if both Lewis and Charles had perfect laps, but I think only Mclaren could have touched Verstappen's time.
When asked about whether the next update will resolve the balance problemsI don't think it cost me pole. But without a doubt it cost me a front row.
I'm tired of coming here and saying something is wrong, I don't have the same feeling with the car as last year in qualifying. We have problems, very specific ones, that make qualifying much harder than necessary because you get a weird feeling with it. We know the cause and solution but can't fix it just yet. The car's balance is strange.
But at the end of the day I have to do my job and I'm not doing it. I think I'm doing an excellent job in the races but in qualifying I'm not at the level I expect of myself. Qualifying used to be one of my strengths, now I feel like I'm missing something. It's true the car is very difficult to drive in qualifying but that's not an excuse I know.
I haven't seen any interviews of HamiltonNo. There's something more in the car than that, but we've never talked about it. Believe me, it's better that I don't talk about it. Let's hope the solution comes soon.
everyone online feels this way, but tell that to Italian press and top brass.. anyway finger crossed for good race for tomorrow, starting like that mid all ways leaves open to crashes, so I hope both make it out without any crashesVinlarr89 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 17:53It’s nonsense. interesting that he doesnt think the new suspension will fix their quali issues, really curious as to what it isScuderiaLeo wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025, 18:05Charles interview on his mistake

- “From the start of the weekend, we showed a good pace, probably the best except for Monaco. So, we’re a bit frustrated not to have managed to put everything together in qualifying, at least in the final lap.”
- “The race pace was good, and we’re generally a bit more competitive on Sunday. We remain confident for tomorrow. There was a risk of rain, but we’re heading toward a dry race, and honestly, I think that’s better, given the pace we’ve shown so far. When you’re leading in free practice and fast in the race, anything is possible. We need to focus on ourselves and do our best. The race is long, and there’s often tire degradation here, which is important for us.”
- “A few races ago, it was more of a structural issue; today, it was more a factor of mistakes. The car was fast, and the potential was there; both drivers didn’t put everything together at the crucial moment. Charles lost a tenth in Turn 1 and another in the final corner. Lewis was leading at the last corner, but the game isn’t just about who’s leading at the last corner—it’s about the finish line. Others were better than us. We’ve made a step forward in terms of pure performance; now we need to take a step in the final lap.”
- “Leclerc’s statements? I think I know what he’s talking about, but we’re keeping it to ourselves. We have a bad feeling today because there’s a bitter taste in our mouths. We knew we could achieve a good result. We didn’t get the right feeling with the changing conditions, and we didn’t get the best result.”
