Very satisfied with the overall pace, would have been the cherry on the cake to be within 5 tenths to pole or so, but we were all discussing the possibility of not even making Q3. To be best of the rest which it looks like means the upgrades have worked well. Let's just hope it translates into race pace too.
I think he overcooked the tyres in his last attempt, lot of mini yellow sectors in S3. First attempt hard over the curbs. But disappointing, but nothing happened due to the penalties…

Alonso couldn't match his best S3 time from Q2 I believe in Q3, was quite a bit down in that sector for both his laps. The floor might have something to play with running over the kerbs?

That was my guess, he got oversteer in 16 and 17, which he didn't get before. But it could have been a gust of wind or he had damaged the floor too. You'd think that a damaged floor would have showed up on slower S1and S2, in which he improved.
After Q2 being a good lap even with dirty air, I was expecting more on Q3. I don't understand Bearman going faster, honestly. Maybe something happened, or maybe the car is just not very fast and it's all about Alo putting it much much above its potential. A little disappointed after Q3, honestly.
Haas brought upgrades this weekend and was faster than AM in practice. Wasn't anything unexpected really.
Well, if AM and Haas bring upgrades and Haas ends up being faster than AM... That's the absolute definition of disappointment, mate.
Nah, I guess something happened, as diffuser and some others are commenting. Tyre cooking or some damage in the floor. Otherwise, Alo wouldn't have been looking under the car. He was much closer to the top in Q2. And I'll add... Comfortably close to the top.

Very interesting words from Alonso after the qualy. He says something We all suspected, but it's good to have his confirmation:
He reaches almost 100% if car potential in first Q1, usually. That's why he doesn't improve very much along the qualy, while the rest do.
Hehe google translated: " And if there was a Q4 there would have been 11th or 12th, because everyone starts optimizing everything and I'm stuck because I'm already about 100 percent. "
I agree with ALO on the one hand, on the other hand thats also a bit marketing. It was no top Q3 from him quite obviously. In my opinion the prime example in his 2nd career when OCO outqualified him. Mostly quicker in Q1 and 2, but a bit too error prone in Q3.

He's always had a car that wasn't capable of pole in his 2nd career....
Sound like he said that he is already at 100% in Q1 and Q2 then there just isn't any more to get in Q3. So he's pushing the car beyond it's limits.

agreed. he was always 2 tenths quicker than ocon in q1 and q2. but q3 would be behind him.
apart from verstappen and russel. everyone at the top made a mistake. so i'll let him off this time
