Re: 2025 McLaren F1 Team

Did anyone think maybe Norris had a bit more of a dry setup and Piastri a wet one?

Or that having clear track is a big benefit when you can't see because of the spray. I am quite confused by these "Norris did not deserve it" comments. He easily matched Oscars pace when they were both clear of Verstappen. Without the penalty the win may have come to Norris overtaking Oscar when he went off on the dry tires.

Norris did well, Oscar did great as well. Both would be deserved winners but unlucky/risky braking under SC cost Piastri this time around.

He didn’t win fair and square.

He was out qualified and dominated at the start of the race.

Only the questionable penalty gifted him the win.

You don’t celebrate something like that. I don’t anyway! But sure, some people think it’s a good idea to give all kids at sports day a participation medal too. Wins come with respect and true wins are earned not gifted.

Wow, he couldn't even congratulate Lando. Grim.
Who? Oscar? He did it right away.
He said "Well done to Nico", nothing about Norris.
He shook his hsnd when Lando was climbing out of the car. No need for searching for drama.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Incredibly bad take.

Hmm, not sure I liked Oscar asking for the swap with Lando, there think he threw away the win - don't think he can complain too much about the penalty - Lando has the race under control now.\

Fantastic drive from both Oscar and Lando today.
Fully agreed. Asking for a swap in Silverstone, Lando's home race is just crazy and for something that is fully your own fault. They were not fighting for the race win and stewards intervened. This was another of a SC leader doing shady things (like Russell against Verstappen), I hope they clamp down on this.

The rules are obviously set, they each run their own race. The car in front pits first (this seems to be a rule).

Great work team, but we are lucky that Verstappen spun. This removed the need from Lando to again overtake Verstappen on track (after a slow stop). Without that spin who knows.
Was rightly shut down pretty quickly, I commented on the race thread about the penalty the only think I question is what Russell did something very similar a few weeks ago and nothing happened - they gave the excuse he was warming his brakes in the same place Max had previous races (not lost on me Max played those games for years) I tend to think George knew exactly what he was going here, Oscar....I am not sure so haven't seen a good enough replay of where he was looking knowing where Max was.

Without Max's spin I think Oscar probably wins that I think he would have built enough of a gap to cover Lando by the time he passed Max. I have never really been a fan of if you have a car as dominant as the McLarens were today in the damp/wet conditions how you can basically neutralised any penalty. Know if you're nor dominating its not easy, just saw it for years with Max and RBR, and Lewis/Merc.

Anyway a great race for McLaren today. Had a fantastic weekend.

There's nothing wrong with participation medals for freaking kids playing inconsequential kids sports. Just getting them involved and active is a worthwhile thing to be happy about.

It's not remotely comparable to celebrating an undeserved win at the pinnacle of a serious competition.

From the steward documents it seems he slowed down from 200kph to 50kph, in the wet, so it does seem a bit more extreme than Russell few races ago (which was problematic as well).

Drivers are risking big crashes in mid pack. It's tough that the first penalty comes our way but at least we still got 1-2.

Are Max fans in this thread trying to cause trouble again? Oscar made a mistake and is rightfully pissed at himself for it. Lando absolutely had the pace to challenge him if he needed to. Also imagine the narrative if Lando had spun on restart like Max did (thinking Brazil last year)

Lando was catching Oscar fast before the penalty stop. There's a pretty good chance he would have past him either way. It's shameful how people who's driver didn't win (or the driver they hate does win) want to throw shade to salve their egos tbh.

When people crash out, the person who inherited the win always celebrates.

What are you on about?

I agree.

But celebrating and ‘wooping’ like you won on merit is ridiculous.

WOW that was intense..... great result by the team, 1-2 on the home race is always a bonus going forward, it's weird that Oscar made that mistake but I cant be more pleased from the race result and obviously for HULK.

It's a title fight and he's closing what was a large gap that was going to go large again today. Everything in his life has been directed towards the absolute pinnacle of his craft, the F1 drivers title.

Doesn't matter how he got, he's entitled to be excited I think
