He didn’t win fair and square.

He was out qualified and dominated at the start of the race.

Only the questionable penalty gifted him the win.

You don’t celebrate something like that. I don’t anyway! But sure, some people think it’s a good idea to give all kids at sports day a participation medal too. Wins come with respect and true wins are earned not gifted.
There's nothing wrong with participation medals for freaking kids playing inconsequential kids sports. Just getting them involved and active is a worthwhile thing to be happy about.

It's not remotely comparable to celebrating an undeserved win at the pinnacle of a serious competition.
The point I was making was about some people’s attitude towards winning.

To cover your point:

All kids should NOT get a participation medal. It teaches them nothing other than a right of entitlement. Your meant to put the time and effort in to earn wins (or medals). Not get prizes just for turning up. That is not how life works.

I'm happy for 1-2 but Lando was celebrating like he was better than Oscar today. Without the stupid penalty he wouldn't have won today in any case. A given victory.
He did not made any mistakes so in a sense he was better, PIA did the SC infringement and left the track which cost him significant time, so NOR was not faster today but did overall a better job. The most important here is that we take another 1-2 for Mclaren, I don't really care who will win as long as P1 is for Mclaren.

P.S for those who claim PIA did not congratulate NOR

By their logic (I guess Piastri fans), any time a driver wins because another driver makes a mistake (spins, crashes, reliability issue) the win is not deserved.

So? Wouldn't a football team that was getting battered and barely hanging on celebrate an own goal by the opposing team in the last minute in a cup final?

He was actually faster, he had caught Piastri and was close to passing him before he took the penalty.

To be honest he could have congratulated Norris publicly for the fans. But I do think it's not a big deal.

Incredibly bad take.
Probably the worst of all time

And just like that I am reminded why I avoid this thread around results. Ridiculous take. Shame can't never seem to be able to come here and enjoy an incredible McLaren result

He took advantage of Oscars mistake. Thats fair.
I agree.

But celebrating and ‘wooping’ like you won on merit is ridiculous.
Honestly I have no issue with it. If Oscar was able to pull a big gap quickly on Lando I might agree but in free air they were similarly paced yes he got some luck but I don't think it was pure luck either he drove fantastic got past Max on the track pretty quickly

SC etc mix up results all the time nothing wrong with Landos reaction here.

Piastri had a chance to win if he was so fast. All he had to do was to open up an 7-8s gap before the stop. Why couldn't he do that?

Imagine telling Carlos Sainz and the rest of the team in 2019 not to celebrate the podium in Brazil after Hamilton's penalty, that took ages to confirm. Maybe Nico Hulkenberg shouldn't go crazy after today's podium, since he wouldn't have gotten if Max didn't spin.

Now I wonder if he was already watching Formula 1 in 2007 or not yet? I mean Fuji 2007 specifically.

I see Oscar saying post race he did the same thing on the previous SC restart - this probably just adds to what I said about Russell a few weeks ago part of Mercs argument was that they were going the same thing on previous laps in the same positions I tend to think you're splitting hards picking the differences between them -
