I read on X that Max was the only one having new soft tires for the last run. Is that true??
only him am Russell were out on new Softs, yeah. Antonelli also had some, but went for used mediums instead.

Sainz' P2 lap (his penultimate run was his fastest) also came on 7 lap old mediums, for example.

Unbelievable that none of the “experts” will tell people that!

They’ll just moan about how great that lap was and how bad the rest were without any context whatsoever…
well, it's difficult to put into perspective, to be honest. Williams for example said, that for them new mediums were the best tires in Qualifying. Then used mediums, then new softs.

So based on that, running new softs would be no advantage at all. But it may be a totally different story for the Red Bull, of course.

Piastri needs to pass Hadjar and Tsunoda, both looking for "the move of their career" :D

Both drivers can defend with no means spared, and have 4 ways to win:
-Keep him behind
-Push them into the wall
-Go into the wall together
-Get a penalty and be even less bothered by going into the wall together before serving it

RB needs Lando to be closer to Piastri pointswise to heat up the battle, hoping one of these races Lando will take them both into the wall.

So you think that lap wasn't great ? Here is some context :

If that doesn't convince, I don't know what will. Even F1 drivers and teams easily admit that Max is the best on the current grid, yet some 'F1 aficionados' can't. Anyway....

Not to mention Max didn’t like the soft tyre either.

Often showed greater speed on a harder compound tyre than other who ran the soft.
Mess with the Bull - you get the horns.

If you don't think that lap was indeed absolutely mighty, you are beyond help.

Also can you tell me, why did the others not have new softs? Was it because someone stole them, or...?

"Max Verstappen slams Pirelli’s C6 tyre: ‘They should just leave it at home’". I do not think that tyre was something he preferred. So I just go with the "experts" on this.

This is the first time Piastri was under any serious pressure. Very suboptimal qualifying and you see it all unravel. Hope it doesn't end like last year where Lando literally made him a second driver. Otherwise Lando title easy.
