Looked good on the long run on H, but the same setup in quali mode with S - looked terrible.
My wild guess is that whatever happened after Austin (Mexico floor + may be other things as well) has taken the car back to 'pre-Monza' level 'struggling to find right setup' mode, and I am almost sure the higher tyre pressures and one step harder compounds w.r.t last year, are making last years' data even less helpful. With the car's setup swinging wildly across tyre compounds, they are going with blind hope into SQ, with great unpredictability about M. Hope that's not the case, but it did look like that.

OR

they did some big change within the 'long delay' between finishing the H long run and then going for the Q run on the S.

Even Astons are looking superb in sector 2, Alonso purple currently. 4 tenths off there, amazing.

Game over lads… Perfomance before Monza is back… They need to fix something until tomorrow, use sprint as a practice session…

I'm blaming the new floor, it might produce the load but the balance and ride quality isn't holding up, they can't get the setup right. It's a clear downgrade from sector 3 COTA, and that was a bumpy track too.

RB/Max when on the Monza spec was P1, P1, P2, P1

Why not go back to that spec? This new upgrade suite is not working...

Those P1,P1,P2,P1 were on Monza, Baku, Singapore and Austin. All extremely different tracks and one (Singapore) where RB were always poor.

It makes no sense to me that they haven't looked at the data and the results and reversed it for this race...

Something is off though. Okay, Andrea said they found something to setup their car a little better after Mexico in the post race paddock interview, but it's not just about Lando being more dialed in, the car is genuienly performing worse than it did in the Monza-Austin stretch. Second race in a row that Max isn't happy with the balance.

Well, people were basing that on the Monza spec where Max was faster than the Mclaren's in the slow sectors.

Nobody anticipated the downgrade. 4 tenths off in sector 2, that's one the worst performances in any sector by the car this year.
