I was right. The softs was such a bad idea.

Is it worth putting new softs on or not? Im unsure if we have enough to last and then re-use these mediums in the main race tomorrow.
I wouldn't do it honestly. Even if he loses P1, that's just 1 point lost anyway. Better to not compromise the rest of the weekend for half a sprint.
Yeah they shouldn't have swapped tires, but they were "scared" of a standing start I am presuming.

Red tire only in the last stint in the race.

Mclaren is not a team for fans with heart problems. Instead of winning easily we almost made it a derby with that stupid soft tyre decision. All's well that ends well.

They said that generally the alternative tyres are what would have been warm.

And good for Oscar is that the damage on the car is probably very light so he will be ready for qualy

Great job Lando.

Once again I feel Max got lucky, Piastri and the bunch crashes and he switches from a weak soft to a medium, ensuring he keeps P4.

But this is what you need to do, beat them in a race and no calculations are needed.

Very good race by Lando. Not comfortable but did enough with Kimi on is tail in the final few laps.

Unfortunate situation for Oscar, great result for Lando. The team now knows that the soft tires are a bad choice.

Well driven by Lando there under pressure, kept a cool head and defended perfectly. He really does look on top of his game right now.

Not sure how Oscar will respond after that. Last thing he needs is making moves out of desperation, leading to more mistakes. For his sake, he needs to park his car on the front row later. Those Mercs look quick, so it's not a given for either of the McLaren duo.

A win for Lando tomorrow will be huge. Even a 2nd to Max is comfortable. Would only lose 3 points when Max needs 9 a weekend.

The expectation is that Vegas will be a nightmare for McLaren though. If Max wins there and McLaren falls into a lowly 6th-7th position, they will lose a significant chunk there making the final 2 races uncomfortable.

Now grant it, that expectation is entirely based on McLaren being horrible in 2023 and 2024, so perhaps they will do a little better this time, but even a P3 (podium) with Max P1 drops 10 points to him, bringing things closer and the championship losable to a DNF.
