Your answer confused me. Absolutely no for what?
I put that which I was commenting upon in bold.
Thats a bland statement often boringly delivered in any sport, moreso it doesn't reflect what's happening this year with Lando.
Very clearly to me he's gone into this year with a personal attitude (already changed) that's far more productive than previous years.
Potently and most importantly, taking on the view that it's absolutely him that's got to drive his ambition forward, regardless of anything facing him. There's complete absence of "would, could, shoulda" type statement in respect of questions posed to him. It's more "I need to change that" type confirmed by him. He makes a point of saying he's ignoring other's views on his performance.
Taking responsibility, changed in focus, shifting the outcome to benefit, that's very apparent in the now vs previous.
He's realised and focused on this path, no waiting and wishing to be WDC. He correctly called his own mistake in Canada, took SOLE responsibility, didn't let himself be destabilised, moved to chase down the next goal with confidence. Swallowed and digested the oil pipe failure in NL, applied himself again to advance. Absorbed the performance in Baku and didn't get in a sweat about it. Do we need any more proof of much greater resilience and commitment ? I dont think so.
He's grasped, tightly, the last piece of the jigsaw .... which is what can take him to the championship peak.
Note, I'm not saying he's perfect or any claim to match another driver, this observation is about understanding and actioning where HE wants to go.
