This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
This is a no bullshit type of infringement. You measure something, if it's off you're DSQed, end of story. No idea why it's taking so long, but anyway.
The start had the correct idea but very badly executed. You're supposed to angle the car to the outside when you brake to open up the radius for yourself while also blocking the rival slightly (Leclerc is an expert at this, both as the attacking and the defending side).
Other than that, the pace was what it was. A P2 to Max P1 would be considered a "dream result" with their expectations before heading to Vegas, but alas, a DSQ is what they will get. Lando is still in the driver's seat, but now it makes the last two races absolutely critical. If they have to play careful with the plank, then I can see Max winning this.
There was that rumor with the FIA issuing some TD for Brazil after finding out some plank-wear prevention device at some teams no? Do we know if they supposedly issued that TD before or after the Brazil race. If it's after and they get screwed this badly here in Vegas, then that's almost game over imo. They must have relied on it all season to get the pace they need to get. If it was before Brazil, then something must have gone terribly wrong with the setup of the cars this race.
Don't see Lando/McLaren botching this anyway Lando has been very solid the last few races. Hasn't been any real signs of mistakes.
He just needs to be sensible.
Though his start today, was uncharacteristically aggressive.
I think the 2nd half of this year he's become more aggressive and it's been great for him. Though I think this was a step or two more than that. Maybe a bit of an escalation I'd be half expecting a silly mistake from him under pressure his past has shown but to his credit there hasn't really been any don't even really think todays move was think he needed that aggression overall and have been happy to see that side of him come out more

Perhaps Stella and Brown are trying to convince that FIA's measuring method is not correct.

Both outcomes don't make McLaren look good.
How long before the word 'cheat' is used ?
Hopefully this thread retains sanity, 24 points is still a big gap going into the last two races. However, if they have to run at suboptimal ride height, it's time for the jitters.
IIRC there's something about teams needing to sign off on the measurements to say that they've been done correctly, to prevent appeals down the line. Could be that McLaren is holding out, grasping for something or just making the FIA go through the full motions.

They'll need a Papaya tape measure to get out of this one unscathed !
That's difficult for the team to accept, especially at this point in championship.
Zak said than instead of havind Lando and Oscar fighting he would prefer Max to win the title. Well done McLaren...pathetic job. If Max will win this will be the most epic fail in Formula 1 history.
