My only crime was commenting before this document was released.
However, what if they checked verstappens and Leclerc’s car randomly and saw no excessive plank wear- then the FIA potentially don’t check McLaren skid blocks so the result stands
"McLaren have
clearly been targeted here". How would you know before seeing the document? You didn't know which cars had been checked. Your "crime" is stoking silly conspiracy theories instead of waiting for the facts to come out. Don't pretend.
I did read other race scrutineering reports from this season before I posted and as I’ve just previously said they don’t always mention checking the skid wear.
The top 10 were only checked this race because Mclaren was randomly checked and were found to have massively f*cked up.
You understand that plank wear can be "anticipated" right? Looking at sparks, looking at oscillation metrics. The FIA are not just fumbling in the dark when they choose to check a car. It's the same reason why Norris was told to massively slow down at the end, because McLaren was suspecting the same thing because they have access to the same data streams. There's no "targeting", it's just plain clever enforcement of rules using technology and good old eye-sight. McLaren have no one but themselves to blame.
Here's the doc from Brazil
The skid wear was checked on car numbers 81, 04, 01, 63, 12, 10 and 27.
As it turns out, when no one in the top 5 breaks the rules, no controversies.
