If Yuki was actually quick, many issues would not have been. It's also due to the setup hand holding and not being able to share any data with Max, unlike at Mclaren. Red Bull is not a midfield team (yet  ) and the strategist as we know them succeed when fighting for top 5 positions, not P12 or P14 on a regular basis. Perhaps they are more exposed there, but that is not Red Bull's normal place. It's not to say they cannot improve, but they shouldn't be developing tools and strategy to run with other midfielders. As we know with Alonso and AMR, it's very difficult and requires a lot of luck when you are racing there.

I am almost sure that Hadjar in a Redbull, in 2026, where a 'new way to drive' has to be found, is going to be an emotional wreck ; since most probably he is going to find out that the PU is not going to be close enough to the Merc/Ferrari one (atleast for the first half of the year). I haven't seen a driver who is more emotional in the cockpit (not even early days Tsunoda). Hope he learns to be patient.

There's no reason to believe this. Anything Marko says is unserious.

I am not quoting Marko here. That was my own estimate.

Why do you think that? I think they should be expected to be good listening to their engine chief. It's an uphill task but I got a reasonably okay first impression all things considered

Two hours ago they asked Hadjar about 2026. He starts with: "I know I'll be on the grid next year". Yes, we know that for months.

There's the part where Marko said they want to fight for wins in the 2nd half. :?

Remember that Marko is the optimist on the team...

I think Marko is delusional but I'm not taking his opinions on this engine project seriously. He wanted Porsche afterall and that was said to be one of the reasons for this whole internal fight.

They're probably assuming that the engine will not be competitive enough to win early, but I doubt they know for sure the relative performance between teams. As for the second half of the season it's possible they can qualify for "ADUO" (Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities) which basically allows you to upgrade the engine in season to get closer. This is available to engines which are determined to be more than 2% behind the class leader in power. Otherwise you can only upgrade between seasons if you are within 2%.

There's another "gotcha" in the regulations now. The cost cap. Every single new engine component that you take will be under the cost cap. It's like the token system all over again. It's a mistake. Teams that have unreliable engines will also not be able to develop their cars because they have to spend something like 1-2 million for each new PU. #-o

I believe there are extra cost cap allowances within the ADUO program. Basically if your engine is super unreliable you have to turn it down in terms of power to stop blowing it up, then you qualify for ADUO. You can also make reliability upgrades at any time so long as they are confirmed with the FIA as not being performance enhancing.

Also chassi and PU budgets are separate, so upgrading the car will not be a problem.

Chassis and PU budgets are not separate.

There's a cost cap for PU development for PU manufacturers (5 of them) and that has its own financial regulations. Then there's a team cost cap which includes the cost of the PU itself when it is installed in the car. Remember that not every team is a PU manufacturer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I remember

Maybe, not sure. Feels like there would be exemptions for that, it's a pretty predictable problem early in a new engine formula.

These are the same guys that invented the token system for 2014 and still don't have 2026 technical regs full released because they didn't realize that if they shut off X-Mode in the rain, the teams will grind off the bottom of the car and run out of fuel.
