This is ridiculous! Stop associating Mercedes and Antonelli like they had anything to do with Mclaren and their championship fight. It is Mclaren's fault that they had a double DNF in Vegas and a terrible strategy call in Qatar that made it even remotley possible for Max to be in this championship fight. To be honest, It is thanks to Antonelli that he held Norris for that long before he caught Sainz but I shouldn't say "held" because he only cared about his race was only gunning for the podium.
Seems like you did not read what I wrote...

I am not associating anything. Ant clearly did an error on not defending, even moving out of the way in the second stint. I am not claiming this on the WDC, as mentioned clearly above I think he was more afraid of crashing and this not being his race. But I think the latter is wrong, this cost him the podium chance in my point of view.
My quote was more aimed at euv2.
What part of 'probably not intentional' did you not get? It is objectively one of the worst defenses of the year, did I claim that MCL and MERC are colluding? That was an assumption you made.

It's because Toto & team managed to screw over every team except themselves and Redbull, with TD039, in 2022. Not because the W13 was 'better' than 14,15 or 16.

:D absolutely.

I'd go further too, with the shift in rules for both floor edges & tunnel height, the legacy of the histrionics delivered by this team, to this day screwed the formula. More or less forcing the situation we have now with them all running absolutely on the track scraping around everywhere.

The amusing thing is, that after forcing regulations to change with all that drama, they're still not successful by capture of a championship.

Catastrophic in design, routed their own design staff and personnel, nothing to be proud of really. Serious misjudgement to chase a perceived loophole.

The Antonelli deal was an honest mistake. There's not even room imo to question it. He is a few months above what is considered to be a child in the world and mistakes like this at his age rookie year are to be fully expected. TBH, I am surprised he has not committed more unnecessary mistakes. Merc could care less who wins the WDC if it's not one of theirs. End of story.

I think RUS took too much risk in his final lap, without that 4-wheel slide, he could have been ahead of atleast one Mclaren. Anyway, with nothing to lose (P2 in constructors is in the bag) and having two nervous Mclarens in front of him, RUS will be going all-attack in the race. The grid is setup beautifully.

The thread remained calm and civilized for greatest part of the season, except some George haters having come here to downplay him when Antonelli did well.

Antonelli has been a huge disappointment. Unlike George in 2022, Antonelli didn't have to handle a rabid car. But yet, he was quite far behind George. I didn't expect him to outshine George in any way. But I thought he would nick a win by the end of the season and a few podiums. Hope he can have a better second season. It's going to be totally new design of cars and it would be a good place to start again for him with a year worth of experience. Let's see if he can do what Oscar did this season.

Hope the rumors are true about a strong engine. If the chassis design team can put together a strong car, then they would have a great season. Bad 4 years for a team that dominated the sport for almost a decade! Hope next year is going to be a great one.

Cut the kid some slack. He did well sporadically, did poorly sporadically, did 'ok ok' sporadically. Exactly what we can expect from a rookie in his first season.

Cant blame it on the rookies with these cars and sprint race weekends. Not much time to get to learn how to setup a car.

How does George Russell continue to get a free pass? Another botched start. His last 6 weekends were very poor for the lofty claims that are made about him. Botched starts in COTA, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi. Poor race pace/tire management in Mexico, Brazil, Qatar, and Las Vegas (despite P2).

This "lead" Mercedes driver should have scored more points this year.
