2026 car comparisons

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So the driver can see a car approaching from 'behind' ? why not provide these at the rear as well, then, instead of relying only on the 'harvesting' lights ? (will be more useful in the rear)

There are rear lights.

I'm assuming these are to reduce chance of a side collision in the spray.

Is this serious, because I never heard anything about it?

Yes, they added additional rain lights to the mirrors and rear wings for 2026.

I think after the craziness of Silverstone last year where so many drivers just couldnt see a single thing in front of them.

What a backward idea for 2026

They should have mandated Rayban Meta glasses with edge of track and car in front information wireframe displayed in the rain and flag information in the dry.

Not at all, it is so that they can be seen in the event of a spin or crash in low visibility conditions.

Already all three FWAS variations have been seen.
4-element: VCARB, Ferrari, Haas
2-element: RB (rendering)
1-element: Mercedes

Correct me if I'm wrong but the regulations seem to indicate the there are also three potential rear wing variations:
1-element rear wing with no RWAS
2-element rear wing with 1-element RWAS
3-element rear wing with 2-element RWAS (all we've seen yet)
FWAS update:
4-element: VCARB, Ferrari, Haas, RBR
2-element split: Mercedes
2-element continuous: RB (rendering) & some pre-season renderings made by various people
1-element: no one

I'm confused by what you are trying to say here. In what sense is it "4-element"?

I'm confused by what you are trying to say here. No one has a "4 element" FWAS. There isn't a left and a right flap. It's continous. I also don't understand what is meant by continuous and split.
RBR and others have 4 moving FWAS flaps. Merc have 2 moving FWAS flaps. There are two ways to execute a 2-flap design. One way to execute a 4-flap and 1-flap design, per my understanding of the regs.

Better nomeclature could probably be devised.
