Considering the zones are FIA mandated, and knowing their risk aversion, I am certain they wont be allowed to use low drag mode in any mild corner. So the aero balance improvement is worthless IMO. The only priority is shedding drag.
Isn't it dangerous to drive a car that intermittently has a lot more downforce in the front than then the back?
Like with DRS?
The active concept was to reduce the downforce in balance F-R such that there was less overall downforce (with consequent reduction in drag).
For the DIA to now designate straights (zero lateral G?) and corners they may as well just called it double DRS and had done with it.
The teams should have been allowed free rein on where/how they use the active modes (there would be an impact of whole race pace if they err too much one way or another - this would have been fascinating to watch). It would be like going back to the old turbo days, they had 900bhp to race with but had to be careful how it was deployed otherwise they would run out of fuel.
