Red Bull RB22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Scarbs proposed the following layout. Very short path between the compressor and the cylinder head

I guess the "final" revision will look more like AM with a heavy undercut
They are using the sidepod to extend the floor entry like Audi at the moment. If they try to get the undercut, then they give up on this effect. So, it's possible, but it would mean they shift philosophy completely.
Agree. This looks more like an access panel or an attachment set-up for an aero rig.

The wide part of RB's sidepod isn't where the extension lies, the width comes further back. If they have the space under the bodywork they could add an undercut. Not an extreme one, but something. It's not obvious they want to do this though, but the current panels do look very patchy, it could suggest a temporary solution.

this diagram isn't clear how the turbo's intake gets 'fresh' air that isn't sullied by the spent 'hot' air from the intercooler

Air-air intercooler on top of engine.

Was half expecting this after seeing the VCARB rool hoop last month.

--RBPT (supplier) retained air-air intercoolers and they are moved above engine. Less COG penalty as it's only the weight of the aluminum.

I think the airbox is split and a portion goes into a duct through the V of the engine straight to the compressor.

Yes, I assumed so. Just wasn't happy with the 'incomplete' diagram :D

The inlet looks like one big one, just crossed but not seperated by the roll hoop struts.

It is most probably split horizontal by the ducting slightly further into the intake.

Just watched a bit of todays running. Interestingly it looks like Red Bull ran the car without the "bargeboards" on the left hand side around 26:30 to 25:00 of the live stream. Odd.

It must have just fallen off on one side.
