Yea in no world is Ferrari comparable with the Browns. lol

Ferrari would at least be like the Ravens or something.
Typically, one of my teams is at some point of hopium, so just rotate through.
Ferrari falling apart (April/May) - NFL combine/FA/Draft;
Browns regular season form (Oct/Nov) - United new manager bounce / Autoracer Ferrari next year hype article;
United out of the top 4 (Jan/Feb) - F1 preseason

I also follow the Raptors, but they play too many games to follow properly when in EU time zones.

Please don't call Ferrari the Ravens, maybe Green Bay/49ers/Cowboys (generally dislike all relevant AFC teams, Steelers/Ravens).

A bit unrelated but what copium do you have left with the Browns lol.
If you listen to Beau and Z on CBD they always drag one back in -

At least UTD are in the top 4 fight still, and I'm convinced they'll get it if Liverpool keep fumbling. Anyway... Ferrari 26 I guess
I really thought that Frank guy would get his haircut this time around ... guess not

If what is happening at AMR, where god-emperor Newey operates, had been happening in Ferrari... Oh boy this thread would be uncontrollable.
Although people don't want to admit this, F1 is 90% a team sport. What is happening to AM right now is not only down to Newey, and equally, if they were very strong, it wouldn't all be down to Newey either.

Ferrari would be just fine if Newey joined them because they wouldn't be dealing with the issues AM is dealing as a team. Ferrari are past that. A Ferrari with Newey would have just been a more "dangerous" Ferrari.
Would have loved to see that. Tbh, I would have loved to see a Mercedes (lobbying kings) vs Newey vs Byrne championship even more

Norris did an awful turn 4 in his best lap yesterday. He was massively slower than Max as well.
He only lost 2 tenths, not "massive". Nighttime track is massively faster than daytime track. The comparison is of course irrelevant, but we do know that Mclaren is running in a more reserved state when their best lap in the night is slower than someone else's best lap in the day time.

They posted the lap!

you can easily tell when lico/derate/super-clipping kicks in at the end of every straight .. i really hope these are just 1st year shenanigans and the teams figure this out as the years go by or else its not looking good for f1. This is far from the pinnacle of racing, this isnt even true racing.

Honestly thought racing was long gone when they introduced hybrid turbo engines that were muffled.

Or was it when they introduced DRS?
Or was it when there were 2 tyre suppliers?
Or when they added traction control?

Racing died so many times over the years it’s hard to keep count.

Interesting.
"In terms of managing it, it's pretty straightforward, I would say. Maybe in race trim, it's going to be different. We will see.

"But then there also is a system that can automatically, you know, once you finish a lap, it learns the way that you're driving. But say, for example, you lock up and go wide, you cover more distance, it affects that algorithm. So we're just trying to get on top of it and understand it. But everyone's in the same boat."

I found always strange no one talked about such systems before.
While having such solutions would be a given to optimise basically everything.

There's a fine line in the regulations if I'm not mistaken. Renault was disqualified from the 2019 Japanese GP for using a distance-based system to automatically adjust the brake bias. It was deemed a "driver-aid" but what is not a driver aid? Power steering is a driver aid.

This is just something you learn and understand with getting wise throughout the years.
Nothing has died, things just change.
The first pro Gp ever 100 years ago was won by the person who was able to keep his tyres till the end of the race.
People just whine, who has no previous knowledge of history, that all the savings and tactics related to them are basic parts of racing, and basically of every sport.
Mid and long range runners, cyclists, etc are all winning by tactics related to saving their energy. Only 100m runners do not.
And the world is huge, if someone can imagine only doing or watching something that is 100% flat out pushing, they can find any other sports like that, though those will be over in a minute :D

I meant systems that are not on the car. I know in car these are forbidden.
But you can still collect data, and then pre program everything based on that, also teach the driver how to drive the fastest laps.
You can use off track supercomputers, LLMs, to do this, they will provide you with all the optimal settings and methods for every meter of the track.

To be fair, 2 tenths (closer to 3 actually) in only one corner is kind of disastrous by F1 standards. That's assuming cars are close in pace of course.

Lost 2-3 tenths in the final corner so couldve been in the high 33's, overall a very impressive day for the Scuderia =D>
That acceleration phase is gonna be more important than ever for laptime. Getting good, clean exits so you can get the power and energy deployment down ASAP is gonna be critical. Given how long he had to wait to really get power down properly here, wouldn't be surprised if it was more like 4 tenths or so loss compared to ideal.

Also, watching the cars stall out on speed at the end of most straights is pitiful to watch. Even for a race lap, that would be disappointing, but for qualifying laps, I want to see cars being properly pushed. Stomping on the brakes and slowing the car down at the last possible moment after hitting like max speed is genuinely one of the more impressive parts of what F1 cars and drivers do.

They can ban recharching without brakes. It would mean you don't harvest at end of straights until you hit the brakes. They couldn't recharge 8.5 MJ per lap and would be slower overall but if everyone hates this they could do it.

Almost a second quicker than McLaren on the first C3 stint (compared to Piastri's from earlier) with a much longer stint.
