He also concluded it needed a whole new chassis due to aero instability caused by the side pods, which he eventually got to deliver via the 19B. Not getting to do that sooner, and being outvoted on the decision, is apparently the main reason he decided to leave Mclaren.

Looks like McLaren looks a little off it in terms of setup at this point

Yes and they will have to fix this to then develop and setup all the rest of the car, so it will take the first half of season.
BTW, I don't think newey is designing the gearbox..

A few years ago this kind of thread would be bursting with activity during the testing days . Anyone else feels the same? Feels so quiet especially given that we had a huge reg change…
