Car seemed competitive till today. Issue today and overall running wasn’t convincing.

the hotlaps were not convincing. The long stints were extremely fast (of course if representative of race sim stints...thing that we cannot be sure of)

Great to see Lewis's confidence in the braking zones as I expected with these news regs. A driving style more preferential to the late-breaking technique, one that leans more towards understeer, is what these new cars prefer.

Also Antonelli's confidence is very apparent on corner entry which is not surprising since him and Lewis have "driving styles" that are closely related.

Yeah, I have some copium they have been experimenting today, clearly they reserved quite a big update package for this test session, their normal day to day program worked well for the first 2 tests and the first day. Hopefully they are now working towards more experimental part of their program and hence the hiccups.

Although Ferrari couldn't spend the day as they wanted due to the morning's schedule, they were satisfied with the car's performance during the time they were on track. Tomorrow, the final tests will be held before Melbourne. Hamilton is currently happy with the overall driving feel of the car
Also according to Fred__18 Ferrari never went above 7th gear, can someone confirm?

Quite a bit as you don’t recharge the battery well since you use it more on the straights.

Probably need to check last week’s runs. If he was down on PU mode its actually worse to go to 8th, assuming their 8th gear is rather long.

They were indeed experimenting today "running several set up options and assessing how the tyres behaved" to quote the team

A friendly reminder that Mercedes is not the only team capable of sandbagging.

Since Vasseur's arrival, it seems fairly clearly that Ferrari often hide their potential in noncompetitive sessions.

I feel like the car didn’t look all that fast today - possibly better on the long runs but I’m yet to see a thorough analysis - but that the team seem confident/are trying things. It’s probably impacting how much running they’re able to do, which isn’t ideal, but possibly a result of knowing their reliability is very good already.

There’s a quiet confidence which I think is the best signal. I can’t wait to see what Charles does tomorrow - especially if we finally get a full race sim from him to look at - but I have a suspicion they may end the test on a high :fingers crossed:
