Amazing race sim from LEC. Basically matched Piastri's overall race time in much worse track condition.
Hope they do race runs in the first 2 hours of the final session and then do performance runs

I hope they do not do performance runs... lets stay low once. Even the race sim was very revealing....

They need data for low fuel runs in normal conditions and not 40 degrees.

In any event, testing has been really positive for Ferrari. Of course, if Mercedes has a huge advantage PU wise it will be extremely difficult to beat them. Let’s see.

Very nice sim given the temps.

The first stint is crazy good.

The rest is not anything that special, especially given it's a 3 stop. But it does look likely they've got some extra push room to spare, or obviously alternatively, to extend stints for a 2 stop without giving up too much pace.

The only reason I think they dont have a massive advantage PU wise is because Ferrari seem relatively confident. I would be amazed if they still dont know the real difference.

The Ferrari looks a difficult car to get a push lap on

You think so on the confidence? I haven't felt that reading what the drivers and Vasseur have to say, it's been 99% "we focus on ourselves, we don't know or care what anyone else is doing". They haven't even spoken on their targets for the season meanwhile Russell is already talking about wins. Not saying season will be a disaster or anything like that, but to me the confidence is coming from Mercedes and especially Russell

last season they talked about championship aim and ended in p4 in wcc so they don't bother promising anything other than yes we will keep our mind open with devlopment etc etc... i see that as good thing.. forget promising the fans just focus and build step by step..

I’ve been very negative about Ferrari because last season has been embarrassing to say the least. Honestly i didn’t have any faith on this technical team to deliver.
At the same time it’s clear that testing has been super positive. The car seems to be quite good aero wise, which is a nice surprise (at least for me).

This car clearly resembles Loic Serra.

Hmm I wonder if a 1:29 is on the cards for the GP.

In 2022 it was like 1,5 seconds between test and quali, but this year Bahrain is round 4, so there will be more time for car development, while the level of PU sandbagging is likely higher than in 2022.

That is if C4 is even available for the race. If C3 is the softest, a 1:29 is definitely out of the question. These cars don’t seem very hard on the tyres though, so Bahrain might not be C1, C2, C3 like it usually is.

Also, this lap was with the conventional rear wing. I wonder if the upside down DRS would be even quicker.

my logic is quite simple: If the Mercedes PU advantage is massive, lets say 0.5s or more, almost every Merc team will be fighting Ferrari every race. And this is not even including Redbull. That would be a pretty poor position for Ferrari to be in, arguably worse than last year. I dont see why the team would be smiling with that knowledge.

Why they cannot hold themselves? Let's put the other wing now to do 1.32 flat.
