Aston Martin AMR26

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Spot the updates? (Melbourne Wednesday)

Longbows top and bottom. The halo standoff is very apparent. Their much-lower front chassis height is one of the more significant features seen on all of the cars this year.

edit, nevermind it's a longbow in another picture of this topic, but where is the steering rack? Does it share the fairing?

Rearward, not visible, like MCL38/39.

If you look at onboards from the Bahrain test there's no visible clue of steering wheel vibrations. You'd see some effect in the fabric of the gloves. I'm calling this out as BS.

Upgrade. Did they lower the floor inlet in order to put 2 of the 5 floor "inlet fences" on the top of the floor (as outwashing devices)?

That’s really interesting! I would agree with your assessment, clearly outwash in that area is stronger for overall floor performance.

New front wing.

With that knick in the 3rd element, could it be that they are trying to shed a vortex that could possibly feed the 2 new strakes placed on the floor and increase outwash even more?

There are still the 5 inlet fences under the lip, so these two are novel.

Its interesting because I thought the regulations wanted to limit outwash, but we're already seeing very rudimentary forms of what they had before 2021 in the bargeboard area. VCARB is very close to the first cheese grater. Aston has outwashing fins. I wonder how many of these you can put there.

In a way it's a similar concept to this from 2024

Aston Martin has a very rearward position of the differential/drive shaft.
