Merc gonna be lapping the field after about 20laps.

Unless nobody else has wound the engine up, but I’d imagine pretty close now.
Why? because they use more hybrid power in sector 2 where the rest use it elsewhere?
It wasn't even close across the whole lap in terms of lap time. Russell was on another planet even compared to Kimi who had a good stint himself.
When you're consistently 20kph faster than the other car in the same high speed corners, you're not on another planet, you're on less fuel.

That seems much more logical to me than Russell having a huge advantage immediately. They sent out two cars, one on X fuel, other on Y fuel and then they simulate two stints.

Maybe they tested different setup.

Tire update after day 1:

That`s wrong at least for the soft tyres, most likely:

FP1

FP2

it's the official update from Pirelli, so please send your complaints about a lack of knowledge to Mario Isola instead.

Where do you see a mistake, though? On first view, it looks in line to me

or different deployment. Antonelli is faster on the straights, as far as I can see. Fuel level would be unusual.

Those images don't show if the tire is used or new. So there's no way to know how many sets were used.
they do actually show it. Used sets are "struck through", or however you may call it.

I apologize if I offended you in any way. I truly appreciate the work you do on this forum; however, since you have the time and have been focusing for so long on which tyres the teams use during race weekends, I thought it would be better to use more precise data—namely, the data from MultiViewer for F1, which is the official live-timing program that F1TV uses for the desktop version. I hope things are clearer now, right?

I'm not offended, no worries. I just have no idea why you think something about the list is wrong.

It's of course possible that Pirelli makes mistakes, but I don't see anything in your pictures that indicates that this is the case today. Who, for example, do you think should have different tires left?

Out of respect for you, please allow me to explain. For example, in FP1, LEC used only one set of soft tyres and one set of medium tyres. For the medium tyre, it’s clear that there was just a single stint of 13 laps. However, on the soft tyre he first did a stint of 3 laps, then he came into the pits for setup changes, and afterwards he did another stint of 5 laps, this time on the same soft tyres, which now appear with a diagonal mark because they are already used. The final stint was 8 laps, again on used soft tyres. So in total, he completed 16 laps on one set of soft tyres and 16 laps on one set of medium tyres. If he had gone out of the pits on a new set of tyres, they would have appeared without a diagonal mark, and therefore they should have been taken into account at the end of FP1…

For example, LEC used one set of soft tyres in both FP1 and FP2, so after the FP2 session, he should be listed with four new sets of softs and two used ones, don’t you think?

The new regs have had a profound effect on interpreting telemetry. Many corner speeds are decided by deployment, as you have noted.

The only reliable thing this year will be the final laptime.

the rules require everyone to return two sets of tires after each pracice session (on normal weekends - sprint weekends are different). No matter how many sets the exact driver used in that session.

Leclerc started the weekend with 2xH, 3xM, 8xS. As visible on your charts, he used 1xS and 1xM in FP1 and 1xS and 1xH in FP2. Which means he has 1xH, 2xM and 6xS left now. The used ones are gone
