I very much appreciate the approach by the team. I know the deficit is deemed by many too large to come back from, but the mentality to fight is desperately needed. Even if they don't make it this year, they have an entire winter to improve the engine again.
That being said, this rear wing should be a gamechanger for them. Every addition in drag reduction means more battery efficiency. This could be a dramatic gain if the reports on the effectiveness are true. This circuit should really suit the car from what we know, so maybe we can begin to hope for a fight on our hands.
If it can bring them closer to Mercedes it will be great. If Mercedes still have more in hand & it doesn't really impact the gap, it will still be great if it distances Ferrari further from the ones behind.
As Xyz22 said, if it forces Mercedes to expose themselves more it will force the FIA to maybe look a little closer.
Yep, exactly. It forces Mercedes hand to some extent, and will help reveal exactly how much pace they have.
If they're not quite as mighty as they appear, Ferrari has a legitimate chance to compete with them in China.
If they are sitting on more pace, it'll force them to show their hand, which will work to other PU manufacturers' advantage vis-a-vis ADUO.
