Because this Covid riddled old man Lewis MUST be destroyed by the in his prime Charles. Gaps of one to two tenths are not enough! He must be blowin into oblvion!

It's sad really because, i think the LH side of the team thread are relaxed with Charles being ahead on pace. It's only natural he's the new generation, he technically should be quicker. And I'm just here as new Ferrari "team member" just wanting to experience glory in Red. I don't really care by who wins.

Yeah, I agree but at the same time, both are also very talented and dominant drivers. The team trying to control either of them will just breed resentment between each other and the team. Letting them go at each other, as long as they do it respectfully, is the best solution imo. Ferrari had 10 years to make the best car and sometimes they did, other times they didn't. The best car will come when it comes and then they can worry about the championships. If Ferrari wants to win they should focus their efforts on the car, not the drivers.

Good part is that both Lec and Ham are very respectful racers.

Im not sure i'm understanding your post. Oscar had graining on the tyres meaning he had to pit. Ham was still doing consistent lap times until the safety car. Everyone has the same opportunity...

Piastri pitted to keep track position. Pitting early hardly helps his second stint if graining was an issue. His discussion with the race engineer just before the pit stop window was all about maintaining track position on George and avoiding being undercut. He essentially communicated he could win as long as he had track position.

Just correcting that point, I have no horse in the Lec vs Hamilton wars.

Hamilton's pace was slower due to a poor setup or an underperforming battery. The people he was racing all pitted early in the pit window, LEC, Nor and Piastri, so staying out and trying something different (hoping for a safety car) was a straightforward option. I don't think he kept his tyres alive any better or worse than anyone else, I think most pitted because track position was key in Japan. Shown by George's inability to get past Charles, even with a 0.3-0.5 second car delta.

Ferrari's starting "advantage" is still a myth of sorts. It's more that Mercedes is an outlier with dreadful starts and Ferrari start right behind them because they have been the 2nd fastest car. Every other team would jump Mercedes if they started right behind Mercedes. Hadjar did it in Australia when he started 3rd.

When Mclaren actually start races, they start just as well as Ferrari. We saw that in Bahrain testing practice starts, and Japan. Ferrari has no start advantage over Mclaren.

I am not sure top speed is the best way to decide Hamilton battery was ducked. I am sure AR will clarify this week if Hamilton battery was down as rumour suggest.

Yes i am intrigued to understand what happened to lewis. Some say he had a issue where the battery wasn't charging intermittently some say it was something else. I love to know if this was the case.

Exactly. Those comparing deployment cycles aren’t understanding the issue. Recharging appears to be the problem; seemingly unable to harvest the same amount as others even though the potential was there.

On Reddit, they explain this is as ‘tricking’ the algo by saving in turn 6 allowing him to redeploy more on the straight (where HAM felt particularly vulnerable). This was linked to HAM being at a deficit because of his problems & not because he was using more battery elsewhere.

You’d be wrong there I believe. Lap 8?? for LEC is the bottom of his 1st stint curve, Lap 20?? is prob the equiv for HAM (the point at which despite burning off fuel you cease going faster).

McL have (reportedly) almost an exact match to the Ferrari transmission for their first gear ratio !

Both being lower ratio than the bulk of grid.
