Worth remembering that all of their world championship titles came via drivers originally in the sister team. People have to start somewhere...
Exactly. The most successful designer in F1 history started out at Leyton House after all.euv2 wrote: ↑17 Apr 2026, 23:46I wouldn't downplay someone just because they are coming from Racing bulls, not everyone starts at the top. The important part is identifying people who can add value to the team.
This announcement is mostly to do with the team morale and controlling the narrative around the team.
Drivers are a very different thing, especially when they all come specifically from Red Bull's very own driver development program. Newey did not have to spend a stint at Toro Rosso before joining Red Bull. lol RB may be cultivating engineering talent to a degree via Toro Rosso, but it was not meant to be a 'feeder' team in that sense.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 16:36Worth remembering that all of their world championship titles came via drivers originally in the sister team. They know how to balance a car at least, which would be a huge improvement! I always wonder if that is the fastest they can really be, or if there is an unspoken understanding not to be too fast.
Sure? Doesn't really change what I'm saying. They're only cribbing from their junior team more right now because of all the major departures. This was not a normal practice from them before, where they hired more experienced and esteemed guys elsewhere for top technical roles even when Toro Rosso existed.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑20 Apr 2026, 14:42Except only Red Bull has this particular facility with its own junior team.Seanspeed wrote: ↑19 Apr 2026, 22:58Drivers are a very different thing, especially when they all come specifically from Red Bull's very own driver development program.
