This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
“The measures agreed in principle today for 2027 would see a nominal increase in Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) power by ~50kW alongside a fuel-flow increase and a nominal reduction of the Energy Recovery System (ERS) deployment power by ~50kW.”
theyre gonna have to raise the cap for every team in order to enlarge their fuel capacities. either that, or make the races shorter. or "MAGIC" which is completely plausible in the current environment.
Wazari says the PU hasn't been run at full potential because the installation is not correct. So Honda/AMR are deceiving the system a little bit. They are not 10% out on the dyno. They have to detune it on the track to stop it from shaking itself to bits. That's not really what ADUO is for.
I don't believe in an ADUO system. They should open development for all manufacturers.
Wazari is a name I have not heard in 10 years. He was wrong an awful amount of time to be a high ranking Honda insider but also sounded weirdly sincere.
I made a post about some of his predictions from 2015 a while back.
Some quotes from 2015 from Wazari (who has connections inside Honda).
I also highly doubt McLaren will switch engine suppliers nor will it take Honda 4 to 5 years without a podium. McLaren Honda will be on the podium in 2016.
I wouldn't be surprised if Honda holds off on the upgrades for Hungary and waits until after the summer break to introduce the upgraded PU. 70 to 80 HP is a big jump but I think the PU always had the capacity to produce the HP. However at these higher settings, reliability becomes a bigger issue.
I know there are four basic tuning trims right now and they have been running at level 2 for the last two races. They are down about 90 HP in that trim in my opinion. I am told that level 4 trim should be equal or slightly higher than Mercedes' estimated output. Of course this is all hearsay and speculation.
As I mentioned before, the folks at Sakura are very pleased with their latest ICE (2016) and think it lacks nothing in terms of power compared to Merc and Ferrari. They also think there is more power to be had from the ICE before official winter testing dates.
For a supposed insider his track record is way off and completely one sided. I have my doubts.
The expedited timelines and talk about tuning trims is very similar to what we hear today.
"No upgrades until race 12-14" (last answer)
It seems to me that AM is working in a new car better than improve this one and Honda will go with everything to ADUO 2.
ADUO has NOT been granted to any team yet. They cannot work on a new car.
They seems confident to bring upgrades without ADUO.
They obviously can work on a new car. And nothing prevents them from working on a new engine either, they'd just get screwed if they didn't get ADUO. But there's little chance of that.
It is not like they are not developing… at the design stage. They just don’t bring any pieces to the car until race 14.
Because only hardware that actually goes on the car counts towards the cost cap, right?
Same idea with wind tunnel… now they are finally getting baseline performance data, even if XX HP down, so they can wait to only spend wind tunnel/CFD time on more mature, effective parts. Also they can wait and see what other teams bring, and then pick and copy.
But I am sure there is a lot of CAD and prototyping and packaging development going on. Just not coming to the wind tunnel or to the car, which is where resources are limited.
I'm quite sure all the design cost counts as well. Employee wages, test components, simulations, prototypes.

They keep changing the CAD drawings, they just never print them, aside from making new parts for the wind tunnel to tests.
How would that get you further. Changing drawings won't get you forward. How would you know if it's any good?
The wind tunnel I presume. I agree, though, you run the risk of going in the wrong direction if you don't trust but verify. I think the regs are so fresh that there's lots of low hanging fruit and weight reduction. Which is why they can probably go without track verification at this point.
Hello, guys. Apparently our season will start at Diffuser's home. Then, Monte Carlo and Barcelona. If by then we are still at the bottom or close to it, bad. We might not enjoy ourselves until the end of the season, although I hope that from now on the car gradually evolves and can get closer to the frontrunners. It would also be good if the team progressed in efficiency and strategy.
I am reading the forum; I hadn't been in it for over a month, I think. I decided to pay more attention to other hobbies because I don't like engines or the regulations this season. Nor the political messes that cancel races. Nor so much advertising setup of all kinds associated with it. And I also don't like how the FIA is handling it. The AMR + Honda debacle, for now, doesn't help much either. By the way, it's incredible the amount of things you know. Thank you very much for sharing them.
Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.
gotta wait till spa at the earliest for new engine and for b spec amr. until then it will be gathering more data and hopefully fixing the gearbox issues
Yes but they need first of all, or at the same time, a new gearbox.
Once they will have an OK gearbox and engine they can start to develop
I'm not sure what your problem is with the gearbox, but it's not like they've had DNFs because of the gearbox. As far as I know, Alonso had 1 issue during qualifying and that's it.

Wazari said that they will not be able to use full power of the current PU till they get the new ICE mounting system and that will probably come in SPA. as for new PU we still don't know anything. Just because they bring all the updates at once doesn't really make it a b-Spec. Just a A-spec with lots of upgrades.

I don’t understand why. we are still discussing comments by a forum member who claims to be a senior Honda personnel, but somehow is more often than not just wrong, and is more less repeating the same things from 10 years ago. More importantly, why are you taking this person's words as gospel like they are official Honda comments?
