Everyone is massively overreacting as usual. I don't think they will make any "parts" changes for qualifying. They matched Mercedes in race pace.

Great sprint, fun to watch. McLaren being the hunter.

I also don't see why aero efficiency is being brought up, the car is like that for years. They don't prioritize top speed so they tend to suffer if they are behind a slightly slower car but with good top speed. Luckily this year you can use energy to make overlaps so I feel this will be less of an issue.
It is actually worse this year. An in-efficient car uses more battery power to reach the same speed as a more efficient one. As a result McLaren runs out of juice faster than the others. They can barely gather up enough charge to use overtake mode in the races because they use so much.

I think it has become worse after the rule battery changes in Miami.

I don't think that is true. Cars last year were also limited by energy (fuel). The only important metric is laptime. If a car is faster over a lap it is by default more efficient over a lap. This could be by going through corners much faster but then lose out on top speed.

Top speed is not the most important thing, especially as recharging at the end of straights is prefered way to charge.

Looking at the lap times it seems lando was saving tyres until the mercs came together. From there he seemed to go full send and matches there times until the end.

Seems too far fetched to think we can race the merc but you have to feel that with landos quality in the wet and kimis inexperience in such conditions it leaves an outside chance of outcoring the merc and then hopefully we can be on a par from the next race onwards once the upgrade is fully working and sorted.

It's qualifying time and let's see if we can tweak the set up some more to see if we can be closer to the Mercedes.

Mercedes will probably find time, but it's great to be in position for it.

Hoping that it holds!

We could try a second hot lap like Russel. Anyway. Not a bad result.

A shame Lando couldn't improve a tenth on the last lap. That was a shame.

Ok guys. We all know the two Mercedes cars still have the upper hand but damn. Another Masterclass qualifying from Norris. He was so close to pole. Again that straight line speed costs.

Piastri is super close as well, 50ms. That's a good job by both guys.
