The rest of the field is making big improvements with their updates, so it is a floating target. A 2 second update that works might only be enough to jump Cadillac at this point.

who was it that actually said it was a 2 second update? it seems like it may have just appeared out of nowhere and we ran with it haha

cool thanks for the link. at the same time, nobody from aston or honda are quoted as saying that. its tossed in between quotes from the honda guy and lance stroll. but somehow these guys know that its 2 second upgrade. maybe they heard it from somebody at aston, maybe its an educated guess, or maybe they just made up a number.

i just wish theyd be more clear on how they know this. in the article it seems like somebody told them that, but it doesnt say who. and usually if they got a quote, they would tell us who they quoted.

my guess is that they took the quote from lance saying they wanted to be in the midfield, and did the math for how much time that would take, and came to the conclusion that it was about 2 seconds. but nobody from the team actually said it.. maybe by getting to the midfield, lance meant he expects it to be a 4 second improvement haha. we can hope

I don’t like that alonso said in the press conference that it is most likely his last race at Barcelona, but we will see... Hopefully the B-spec is a giant step, but it sounds like it might not be enough.

We can consider following upgrades before summer break for the B Spec;
- Engine
- Gearbox
- Chasis
- Suspension

Considering the above 2 sec is pretty conservative...

It's pointless to obsess about this. We don't know to which track this vague expectation refers to. After they still could be last, or go straight into the middle. It's meaningless.

To throw more question marks on your perception of the up coming upgrade, Stroll said "around 2 seconds".

That's also cause it can vary per track.

That article also said the upgrade was waiting on Honda.

The article also talked about a bunch of test they need to do to ready the new PU, like Honda hasn't done anything until now, which I presume isn't true. I am sure Honda have a development team working on this since this ICE was sent to be built. You always break up you team in atleast 2 groups, one to work on the curren ICE, another to work on the next.

Even two seconds of improvement would barely be enough to get out of Q1. Over a second off of Cadillac is crazy.
