doesnt seem like that would necessarily stop them from doing it. seems like there was talk in the mclaren days of them paying part of his salary. im not sure if they actually ended up doing it back then. i dont necassarily think honda would have to be forced into it. they seem to want him to stay too right now. but im sure stroll will be pushing the idea that top drivers havent really been beating down the door since the start of the season like they couldve been under different circumstances.TyreSlip wrote: ↑28 Aug 2026, 23:13Honda paying for part of Alonso's salary does not make sense because Aston Martin's agreement with Honda is to pay for the engines.zoroastar wrote: ↑28 Aug 2026, 22:39there are reports that stroll is wanting honda to pay part of alonsos salary for 27 and 28 at 40 million. i imagine part of his delay in signing is the fact that he knows that they have no other serious options and he intends to capitalize money wise if hes gonna be stuck in the midfield again.
i still dont think that hes ready to leave with newey in the team. he could go, but hed still like to leave on top and its still a possibility. and hes got big money coming if he sticks around under the circumstances.
i know that they at least gave him an acura/ honda nsx. whether that counts or not is up for discussion lol
